With collection day looming fast, I'm looking for one of those small locks which locks the driver seat facing backwards. Halfords sells steering locks which would do the job but I prefer something much smaller to put away when not in use.

Swivel seat security

Hi I have fitted my disklok to my van and my friend said why don’t I turn my swivel seat around and drill a hole in the runner and padlock it in the turned around position so they won’t be able to sit and drive if they go to steal It has anybody done this

Do you mean the Oxford Patriot disc lock? If so you will need to drill a hole in the seat base to allow the mushroom locking pin to drop through for locking. Infinity Motorcycles sell them.

This will help, I think just what you are looking for

This may be handy info for if you are wanting to fit a Patriot lock.

The info is all out there already posted, but not all in one post.

Short shackle in the locked position : 10.5mm gap
Long shackle in the locked position : 45mm gap

Short shackle: 40.5mm length
Long shackle: 75mm length

Length of shackle inside locked body: 30mm
( same for both locks )

Longer shackle length may be a problem if you have a narrow space underneath the swivel base.)

Unfortunately on the driver seat of my Ducato Bessacarr 2006 the overall width of the two swivel plates was 14mm.

So I bought the extended shackle Patriot ( the one for use with a chain), and padded the shackle underneath with M14 x 30mm diameter washers to make a snug fit. Maybe for "On - Off" usability, gaffer tape around all the washers to form one large spacer piece.

The window stickers I designed and printed out on normal paper. I used clear wide parcel tape, sticky side onto the printed side, trimmed off accurately any excess parcel tape around the edges of the label shape.

Layed out a length of parcel tape, sticky side up.
Carefully positioned the label shape ( unprinted side down, printed side up ) onto the parcel tape, so that width of the tape overlap was equal along the top and the bottom edges. Cut the end tape overlaps to be a liitle wider. This was ready to stick to the inside of tbe windows.

Turning seat round

Has anyone got any photos of how to turn seat round and drill and padlock it had a look yesterday but couldn't see any way this can be done ,I can put a chain round through the hole then lock it but would prefer to not have the chain .thanks

Personally I want a "security device" to be overt to deter, not covert and discovered after breaking in.
I have a millenco peddle lock but it is only visible after entry into van, so secondary defence.
Big yellow disc lock, anti harpooning plates (Ducato issue), T series deadlocks, habitation door overlock, are
externally visible deterrents.
Hoping thieves will target someone else van, not sorry, you can install the same.

Mines on a ford transit, seats don't turn fully and didn't need to drill hole, bit fiddly to fit but good deterrent.

I would be tempted to take your vehicle to a quiet area, apply the lock and try for yourself to evaluate if it's possible to drive the van away, even if a bit uncomfortable. My suspicion would be yes, if a bit awkward.

I use. Motorbike disc lock with the seat turned works perfect

I use a good bike D lock that goes through an existing hole. Not as hard to grind off as the bike Patriot but I had one lying around..

A simple padlock placed beneath the seat - within the metal base of the seat - works just fine for me.
There should be a couple of convenient "holes" to thread then padlock through.

Sorry just looked at forum and Moho is back in storage so can’t post pic but it locates over the bars at the bottom of the seats [ the one’s you use to put the seats back and forward… if that makes sense? ]

yes you could and i have drove it out of the car park onto the road , but don't think you would get far with the seat turned ,
