Bill sometimes in France we are inundated with them,I find the best thing is pepper dust or spray around the door or window threshold or wherever you can see them entering.
I don't think it kills them just deters them from coming in,they are hard workers like you you knows!

Seriously, there are products like Nippon, a liquid that you put drops on the route the ants take and they take it back to the nest, there are also some powders that do the same.

Take away or seal up anything they can eat and they will go.
