I'm in the process of selling my holiday home in France and looking to buy MH with a view to setting off around Europe next April. Eagerly gleaning every bit of helpful information I can in advance.

Big welcome, there is a special Forum section for people who use their dog as an avatar so you will get an even bigger welcome from them! :D

Good luck selling your French home. Is it practical to rent it out?

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Good luck in the sale of the property, hope it's a swift and smooth transaction :)

Then it's search for your ideal MH and join the happy hoards of Funsters on their journeys :)

Thanks for the welcome Guys. Not really practical to rent the house as we want to downsize anyway. We will sell to fund MH and a smaller property for us to restore (again!). We also want to live further North in France than where we are now. http://limousinhouse.weebly.com/

We did consider setting up in the MH storage business at the house as there is loads of outside and under cover space, but bottom line is that we want to retire in Southern Normandy/Loire.

Forgot to say welcome and good luck with the sale. :) If it is a holiday home you may fall foul of the 30%+ CGT rate, actual amount depends on how long you have owned the property but to escape completely you have had to own it for 30 years. :(
