We are on La Plagne aire
and moving to Alpe d Huez aire next week
However someone has said that they think they are restricting access to the aire at A d H
because of the coming music festival
Does anyone here know anything about it
Cheers

I saw something over on the fb motorhome skiing page in mid January, copied below.

This was the picture of the Alp D’Huez Aire this morning. They are cordoning off parts of the Aire already getting ready for the Tomorrow Land Winter festival. They need the space for all the generators and trucks needed. The Aire closes on the 19 February until the end of the festival. There are spaces currently but I could not find out for how much longer. Personally from the 19 February or just before I would give it a miss. Shame it’s a great Aire otherwise.

Hope this helps.

Hiya peoples. At Alpe d with grandchildren, daughter son inlaw. The place is HEAVING- we drove [car] no where to park despite arriving 2 hours before changeover time officially started and circling for an hour. Eventually got parked far away from apartment; saw the same people circling as we lugged the stuff out of the car- that was Sat- things no better now. The snow is fantastic;but the pistes are packed as the resort is teeming. Our estate agent said it was dead last week and it is not busy next week - if anyone is thinking of heading up here I would wait until next week. Camper park full I assume as lots of vans heading down yesterday - I will walk to van park tomorrow and update [got to get some exercise - I dont ski - I am the catering :xrofl:

pics wont load on the computer from phone- but the Aire here is 3 x the size it used to be- loads of spaces and the snow ploughs have cleared nearly all the surfaces. Most people have gennies; mainly French but one or 2 UK vans. Also the roads to the resort are now clear and the snow is deep and according to the skiers fantastic but the machine to enter the aire is broken you have to get the ticket at the bergers car park in town ... or call them +334761121 open from 09.30 to 11.30 and 14.00 to 16.00

I went to Alpe D Huez over xmas and New year. Wasn't that busy to be honest. They started letting cars park in there over the new year festivities and still room for vans.

As for it closing, it's closing on the 20th March for sure but maybe a week or 2 before to set up..

However the worst thing is that the aire is closing period.

This will be the last year of it. The aire from next year will become an "ice car circuit". Speaking to the officials there, they tell me that it is not certain if they will move the air to behind the sports center and are currently looking at options.

shame really, always been a great place to ski/board and gotta love the Sarantine and Tunnel. Hope they find somewhere else.

Oh, that’s awful news, thanks for posting the update though. Have spent much time there and it’s going to be much missed, so hope it will have a satisfactory replacement.
