Germany/European tour 2023

Journal details

A leisurely roadtrip by campervan (PVC) through Germany and beyond, with my 18 month old Labrador in tow. Outline itinerary is: Hull-Rotterdam/Cologne/Nuremburg/Friedrichshafen/Berchtesgaden/Austria/Slovakia/Czechia/back into Germany/Dresden/Colditz/Leipzig/Bremen/Rotterdam-Hull.
Ferry booking is flexible, so I can extend stay on continent if needed, but proposed duration is 4 weeks. I hope to do the War Crimes tribunal court in Nuremburg that I missed in November 2021 due to Covid restrictions. Of the other destinations, the only ones I haven't visited before are Berchtesgaden, Austria, Slovakia and Leipzig. Berlin is not on the plan, as I have visited several times, both pre-reunification and post, most recently was December 2021.
The plan is to use mainly stellplatz areas, with a stop at a proper site with facilities (esp. laundry) every 8-10 days. I am visiting friends in both Friedrichshafen and Bremen. Austria Slovakia and Czechia are pretty much blank canvasses at this stage, but I have been to Prague several times so may not visit this time.

In terms of legalities/preparedness for weather, I have Michelin Cross Climates on my van, and I have both snowchains and snowsocks. The van has a Euro 4 (green) Umweltplakette that I got during my trip in Nov/Dec 2021. I have refillable LPG, and 200W of solar on the roof feeding 2x95Ah Varta AGM leisure batteries.

...Well, so much for the plan, let's see what happens in reality! D-Day is Sunday 5 March.. IMG_4658.jpegIMG_5735.jpeg
