Van Weight Engineering

Replating of Motorhome vehicle masses.
That's a very strange way for a potential new member to begin.
If you have a specific question you may get a more specific response.

£15 membership will allow you to ask as many questions as you wish and other members will be willing to help if they can.

I used them recently to uprate the weight my Motorhome. Excellent service. Simple process, very quick (took around 5 days I think) . Sent all the stuff off to DVLA a week or so ago but not heard back from them yet

I didn't notice that, sorry.
Is this referring to a company of that name then?

I've been caught out on a thread like this,if you click on the blue 'Van weight engineering'it brings up what he's on about! It would have been better just put in the 'reviews' section 👍 unless he can't as he's not a paid up member yet🤔

Fairly standard internet protocol to be fair.

There is only one review on the reviews page why don’t you put your experience on there?🤔 would be very helpful to others considering uprating😊

Can’t see yours either🤔perhaps it me but gerrym11 is visible @Jim🤔

I think it said the reviews have to be moderated before they appear. I can see Gerrys but not Jevs so maybe ours are waiting approval?

Jev88 I see yours was done in May. Have DVLA done their bit yet?

DVLA replied within 8 days. To tell me I couldn't pay the PLG road tax by direct debit? So filled in a form and got a postal order - all done within another week. The weights dept don't seem to have problems. But be warned, Do NOT use recorded or registered delivery as that goes to a central sorting location for DVLA and can take a month to process.

I did recorded delivery as that was what Van Weight Engineering recommended.

I didn't include any payment. Mine is already taxed at 3500KG so I should be due a refund. There wasn't any admin charge was there?

Mines been 5 weeks or so now.

Postal order!!?? are they still in the 1970's!

Postal order - I haven't had a cheque book for at least 15 years.

DVLA have just updated my details. Took 5 weeks 2 days in all. Not too bad I suppose.

If they got it right ?
Have you checked section F.1 "Max Permissable Mass"
They tend to leave that at the original 3500 weight

Yes section F1 say Max permissible Mass 3500, G Mass in service 3025 but...

Y - revenue weight 4350 KG Gross.

Not totally clued up on all the different terms/categories and what they mean. Just messaged Van Weight Engineering to check on this.

The problem is that the DVLA are only 'interested' in Revenue Weight.
Apparently it's another department that deals with Max Permissible Weight changes

I was advised that the difference might cause issues in the future
It only took two goes to get it right

Van Weight engineering have been very helpful and given me a direct email to the right dept. at DVLA and worded an email for me to request correction. They said this is the 3rd instance of this happening recently. They have tried to make it obvious for the DVLA in all the paperwork but they still miss it.
