COVID19 and MotorhomeFun Rallies

Strict laws are in place to prevent the spread of COVID19. This means the traditional MotorhomeFun rally, punctuated with hugs and handshakes has ceased to exist. For now, at least, we cannot gather in a marquee asking for Johnny to B Goode or to try and discover just who Alice is.

The Covid19 laws and recommendations are changing weekly. However there is one constant. No matter who you are, where you are, or what the current law says, you should be mindful of the first principle of person security, which is, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SECURITY. You cannot palm this responsibility off to a policeman, the Prime Minister or your rally marshal. You must look out for yourself! You must be sensible. You must keep your distance from anyone not in your household. You should wash your hands thoroughly, and often, as if your life depended on it.

A max of 6 people and still with Social Distancing in mind

While the traditional rally is currently illegal, the law allows us to come together in very small groups on campsites. Right now the law requires that everyone maintains social distancing with no group being greater than 6 in number (if they are from more than two households) So should a number of you plan to park up in the same vicinity. You must adhere to the following. Your attendance shows your agreement.

  • For the purposes of track and Trace, before you attend the rally you will fill this form.
  • If you, or a member of your household, have had symptoms in the 2 weeks leading up to the Rally, you will not attend.
  • While at the rally you must maintain 2m social distance from everyone not in your household. There may be signs to remind you of this, there may not. No matter, you are responsible for your Social distancing.
  • No gathering may be larger than 6 in number. A group of 6 or under must maintain 1m+ spacing between households
  • If you come together in a group greater than 6, even with 2m SD, it could be construed as breaking the law. Therefore on a rally if you come together to talk, you must remain less than 6 in number.
  • If there is more than one gathering of 6, to avoid any ambiguity there must be at least 12m between those groups.
  • No one may enter the motorhome of another not in their household.
  • You MUST sanitise your hands BEFORE and AFTER touching Communal Equipment. Taps, Hoses, Elsan Disposal Lids, dustbins etc. There may be sanitisation gel at these points for you to use. However, remember the First Principle above and bring your own!
  • If you become ill, you will let someone know, and you will leave the site and seek medical advice.
  • You agree to leave the rally field for any reason if requested to do so by the rally marshal.

Your Rally marshal will have completed a threat assessment before you arrive, he or she might remind you of these rules when you do, however if they do not, remember that it is your responsibility to stay safe. No one else’s.

While rallies won’t be quite the same, You can still have a pleasant social experience while staying safe.  Please make the best of it, Stay Safe, Stay Alert to the dangers and Have Fun.
