X290 Citroen Relay fuel tank fittings...

Trying to fit a standpipe for diesel heater, can’t seem to take off the fuel send / return lines from the sender unit.. can push clips out but pipes don’t want to come off... I don’t want to pull too hard and break something in there , Is there a knack to these ?

usually need a little twist to break the o rings gummed onto the spigot
