Wow how car safety has improved, 1978 SIMCA crash test

It could have been on an old episode of Top Gear, but they crashed a Smart car into a concrete block. The car sustained very little damage due to its tubular frame design, but it was pointed out, as Guigsy says, that the lack of crumple zones to take the "sting" out of the initial impact will leave your giblets in a bit of a kerfuffle, but hopefully the air bag going off might push your retinas back into place ?

I wonder what a MH passenger compartment (and occupants) would look like after the MH hit a concrete block when travelling at 80kph ?
 
I think the first car to have a passenger safety cell was the Rover 2000. A British invention! :giggle:
