I remember reading all about surf etiquette years ago when I started surf kayaking. It’s a bit weird and they take it really seriously.

However, all the gumpf came with a disclaimer that out in the waves, there are no etiquette police and if someone bigger and harder than you tells you it’s their wave, it’s usually best to agree.

Yes the campsite owner seems a bit of a tool and I can’t agree I would do what the OP did. Life is such however.

I am sure ambulancekidd will back me up here when I say that some of people I have been out to having been thumped, didn’t really leave the thumper with much of an option.

I always say an ass hole is an ass hole, even if they ride their bike, or have a caravan, or a cycle, or a car etc.

Ive stayed on that site its in centre of seahouses , i stayed on an august bankholiday a few years ago it was the most expensive place ive ever stayed, and we were parked up to a wall , so no great views or anything

It was years ago I think it was between Seahouses and Bamburgh

I think the morale of the OP’s story is: Dont go on holiday with big Martin, coz he takes up a load

There wasn’t enough room because Martin needed an 8 berth tent. Imagine him breaking wind in a tent good grief.

Totally agree, some people stick their necks out with no thought to the consequences.
As the saying goes, may a mans tongue broke his nose.

Parkdean was an experience. The kids however loved it and I’ve forgotten just how awful it was . Therefore we will probably go again .
Was this Sandford? Stayed there once, never again ferral kids and lots of what appeared to be travellers who bullied and intimidated others.

Would not go there again if I was paid.

I was a National Parks ranger in Australia. The nicest and most considerate guest I had on our main campsite were from the local Hell's Angel Chapter. The worst were the middle-aged middle-class campers who did their best to try and abuse the site.

I had a bad experience on a campsite, we pulled into a site near Seahouses, some of you may know it, went into reception and he told me the price.

Caz said I came round about 40 minutes later those smelling salts really work.
We stayed there, we were between 3 static caravans, went to pay on leaving in the morning and nearly fainted after being told how much they wanted.

my bad experience was going to chester with my son in the vw section next to us were a bunch of motorhomes with a yellow smiley face flag they had a toga party in the bar led by some bloke called bill
OMG I think we played that night! So surreal when the Romans arrived and started jiving 🤣

On the Wild Atlantic Way a site on the north west in the sand dunes. Arrived, parked up, opened the door, horizontal sand storm, shut the door, and drove off whilst my wife phoned the site owner who luckily was very understanding. We only “stayed” a few minutes so I am not sure it counts.😁

We pulled into a Stellplatze at Spandau a district of Berlin, we pulled in drove around and drove out it was a real dump, 3 foot weeds growing through the concrete all over.

The owner followed us and said because we had drove in we had to pay, a discussion ensued and she said if we didn’t pay she was calling the police

Where’s big Martin when you need him.

We just drove off it was pointless discussing it with her any longer

It was indeed. I posted a report on here . I found some guy hiding under the motorhome talking to his wife on the phone . Apparently I was a weirdo for asking him to leave because it was raining and he was just taking shelter .
The groups of feral kids roamed the site from dusk until dawn and slept during the day .

Campsite in the Lake District, solstice weekend with good weather in a backpacking tent with baby and wife. I should have known better.

Rammed full and portaloo type toilets sort of site.

Well eldest son aged 1 took ages to nod off due to the light, we followed about 11pm only to be woken by the loudest Geordie accent I have ever heard about 1am. They had a massive row and apparently she hadn’t done anything wrong but in the most potty mouth I have ever heard at full blast.

It went on for about 30 minutes.

Thankfully we only did the one night.

Then there a similar site where we had got a banger caravan. Someone actually tied their guy ropes to a corner steady they were so close to us.

Love the outdoors life. :)

I can recommend wildcamping for you.

I have found the comments on the original problem between the Bikers and the Family Tent man quite instructive, as to which forum members supported which side, but also which forum members sought out compromises.

I shall leave it there.

If i had came back and found my tent dismantled id have put it in the car and then id have set light to the 3 tents pitched where mine was. He who laughs last and all that.

Id also have shoved the bikes off their stands before i left 🤷‍♂️

Touch my stuff then im allowed to touch yours.

I think 6 foot 7 inch and 30 stone played a big part in people’s behaviour Tam.😄

It must be difficult being 6’7” and 30 stone… he might be a really nice placid guy but he’s obviously got a thug type role carved out for him by his mates. 😳

As an aside, when I was a teenager apprentice, a chap of colour (Pakistani) shop keeper asked me to do a job for him, basically take down his outside loo, and make good the two walls which I did. Took 2 days and I asked him for £20.
He argued and wouldn't pay up, so couple of nights later I got up at 3am and gave him a couple of his bricks back through 2 of his shop windows.

I suppose that's wrong too eh ?? well, you see dodgy builders on telly, and there are dodgy customers too, not to mention dodgy camp site managers.

Here we are on tour. Guess which is big Martin ? he is a very nice lad.
