We have just found signs of woodworm in our bathroom cabinet!
It is in a corner at the bottom of the under sink cabinet and we can see the pile of dust along with moving insects.
We have tried taking photo of the insect and it does look like woodworm.

Open to suggestions but I guess we are removing the bathroom cabinet and rebuilding with fresh timber.

Welcome any advice please.

Iain

Carpet beetles? Woodlice? Silverfish?
Not carpet beetles or wood lice but just found you can get Black Silverfish. However it doesn’t have the spiky tail that silverfish have. (According to Mr Google)

Doubt it's woodworm, is this in your motorhome or house ?
Having said that woodworm killer sprayed on would probably kill whatever critter it is.
Can the cabinet be removed to outside, all timbers will need treating or replacing.
Woodworm love eating the glue in plywood but it's unusual to see infestations in modern timbers.

It is in the motorhome so it means dismantling the bathroom to get all the wood out.
I am beginning to wonder if it‘s just a bit of wet rot as it is under the sink and it looks like the sealant between the timer and the floor is not in the best condition.

Woodworm are rarely visible as such. Apart from the 2mm dusty holes the other sign of active woodworm is the presence of the adult beetles. If the affected timber has not lost too much strength use a syringe to inject as much treatment as you can into each hole.

The thing is the timber is just crumbling and there are no distinctive holes.
So I am beginning to think woodworm was a little bit of an overreaction.

I have looked closely at the photo, that is not a woodworm.

Absolute beginners.
Probably been in the timber for years. Treating that would be a fumigation type of treatment. You'd have strip out virtually every removable object.
PS, I've seen ants create similar problems in wood as well.

Wood boring weevil, Google it.
Positive Identification, confirmed by SWMBO.

Sounds like I have to dismantle all the cupboard and replace the wood Asap But not special treatment will be required.

Many thanks to you both who identified it.

2" double sided carpet tape, strategically placed in the area stops them moving about, one way or another. :)
