Ok, so I've read lots recently but one topic has been described differently in different places. (Or I've misunderstood).

So is winterisation the preparation of the MH for storage in winter- drain down etc or is it adding things to make it function/ remain usable through winter eg warming tanks and pipes to prevent freezing?

The level of winterisation is in the initial design of the van so minimising cold bridges and running pipes and services in warm areas, yes you can do a little bit like electric heating for tanks after it’s built but better at the design stage, I think there is a standard test for winterisation that involves a cold chamber and temperature measurements over a given time period.

I wonder how many manufacturers do that? You are the factory visit expert.

There is a standard test for winteristion. The motorhome is put into a cold chamber at a temperature of minus 20 degrees with its heating on for a standard time. If the temperature inside stays at the specified level and all of its services survive it passes. I think it is a German specification.

I know N+B always made a point of stating that their vans were winterised to -40C so that is possibly a different test or standard.
