Im a newbie
If we put BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN tyres on ,do you still need to carry snow chains in France .

I don't think All terrain count for anything anymore unless the have the 3 peak mountain snowflake on the sidewall, snow chains or not may depend on where you plan on going.

Even with AT tyres youll still lose most traction if you hit ice. My advice, bring snow chains unless your tyres are studed.

If your tyres have the m+s symbol they are still okay until November 2024

Sorry can you clarify if the above m+S and mountain flake are permissible as french winter tyres? Or will i legally need chains?

And the mountain/ice symbol means?
Just means they are 'proper' winter tyres. Probably made of a rubber that is more flexible at low temperatures, allowing better grip. I'm no tyre expert, but the tread patterns may be different than M+S.
