Winter Sports when heading to Spain

No plans. No route.

But may be crossing France-->Spain in late Dec, and vice versa late Jan.

Any recommendations for winter campsites near ski lifts? May or may not take snowboards, but would play in the snow and toboggans etc. Will test the van build/insulation too lol. We did stop in St Lary Soulan a few years ago and boarded from there, and some other campsite I don't wish to return to where (upon direction) we emptied a very full loo cassette into a "toilet like" emptying place, only to then notice the back of the disposal point had frozen/cracked and the entire loo cassette poured out...... (they were apologetic and dealt with it!)

But anyway, suggestions on route over would be welcome (not sure what passes will be closed). Will have snow tyres and chains but would rather not overly risk it. Campsites close to lifts with hookup I know I know we never use hookup, but winter sports we make an exception

(Have boarded in Sierra Nevada a few times, so not heading there)

There seems to be surprisingly few winter sports enthusiasts on here for a decent reply to your query. If you use Facebook try joining the "Winterised motorhome, campervan and caravan skiing and boarding" group and you'll likely get some suggestions.

Most people come to Spain in the winter for the sun. For skiing, or other snow related activities, they go to more established ski areas. The ones in Spain would likely be in the Pyrenees, and I include Andorra and Font Romeu.

Spain is great for land based winter activities, climbing, biking, hiking, even swimming

Thanks. Yep probably not full focus on winter sports and more aiming for sun, but as passing it'd be rude not to. (wifey won't be able to board so I probably won't be able to do it for too long unless I left her at home).

I've skied regularly at Val de Ski, near Segovia. Freedom Camped in the carpark or driven down to regular campsites around Segovia.

There is an aire at Chamonix. Just over the road from the town and cable cars.

There's not but there is mountain in CCP if it helps. I just came across a few when looking for a stop. Another is Arreau
