Looking for recommendations for a window vac.
We used to have a Karcher before it gave up the ghost.
It could be annoying spraying water out of the tank when used horizontally.
Interested to hear of any others that seem good quality.
Dont want anything to bulky and hopefully a reasonable charge time.
It may be that it will be another Karcher but worth researching first.
Thankyou.
Graham

Karcher appear to be the best had ours for about 5 years although it doesn't get used a lot, does get used on the house a couple of times a year as well as the van. We have found you can use it upside down for the bottom of the screen providing there is not too much water in the tank.

Karcher for us, had it about 8 years and during damp winter gets used most days on our single glazed rv windows. Spitting out water when used on its side is a pain but I just tip the bit out between windows and it’s normally fine, beats the time I use to go round with the shamy cloth every time.

The shower in our van is semi-circular so we use a Karcher KV6 Pro which has a very supple broad squeegee on the head which takes in the curvature of our shower and our cab windscreen. Ours will spit out the sucked up water if you let it get too full when using it horizontally.

I am rather intrigued as I have a, rarely used, WV2 PLUS N and I had never noticed it leak.

So have just put some water into it, turned it in all directions, including upside down, and I cannot get it to leak?

The only extra, to it, I have done is to smear a little rubber grease around the drain-plug to assist its withdrawal as I found it very tight, is this the answer to the leaking problem or is it because it's not used very often?

(I do, also, use the microfibre wiping thingy and Karcher's cleaning concentrate)

The one we bought about 1 year ago does not leak when turned upside down or sideways but the blade is too wide

Mine came with 2 blades, one about 6inches and the other twice that length.?

One of ours has 2 blades and we use the narrower blade far more often than the wide one.

The WV2 is not one of the original designs that had leakage issues.

No, the leak arrises from water getting onto the motor fan blades and blowing out of the vents.
Regular emptying helps, I put mine in a plastic bag to catch any spray.
I'm interested to note though that the newer ones don't seem to have this problem. Mines about 7-8 years old so maybe time for an update ?

We have two a Karcher and a cheapy would never be without one. Use the cheapy after washing the car as hard water is a problem for us.

I have one of the karchers that can leak. I find I can avoid this by sucking the bottom of the windscreen first so it is nearly empty when sideways on.
Works brilliantly though. I used to use a microfiber towel but the window vac is much better.

Son got me the Karcher Vac for Xmas so have charged it up and will see how it goes.
I have been using a big car drying towel that does the job but I then have to dry that ☹️☹️
Have a big windscreen so hopefully it will do the job.

My microfibre and spray thingy came as part of the package and, I thought, one was supposed to use the microfibre thingy before vacuuming

We've got a window vac for cleaning windows at home.

In the van we just use a squeegee in the shower so the water goes down the plughole. Just swoosh all the walls down before you dry yourself off. On the windscreen I just have a pair of microfibre cloths. The waffle pattern one soaks up most of the water and I follow up with the fine one to make it smear free. Just wring them out through the window.

The WV2 here is OK?

Edit: link snapshot is low on pricing info

Bought the Black Edition £45 direct from Karcher inc 2yr guarantee. Buy a couple of extras and get free delivery. We bought 2, a new one for home and one for the Motorhome.

Dont forget that if you already have a Karcher window vac and are looking to upgrade, contact karcher direct and give them the serial number of the old one, and they then apply a discount on a new one should you wish to purchase from them direct.
Our new one got £12 off, free delivery and came out at just on £40.
I must admit, I was very surprised as I rang up to complain that ours, after a year or so was not performing as it should ( turns out it was “Pilot Error” in the end) so we got a new one for the shower in the house, and the “old broken one” ? Is now in the van!
😊

We have 2 Karchers, one at home and one in the motorhome. The newer one is a different design and better at working at an angle without spluttering.
Same here. Hubby would hate to be without a Karcher in our MH so in order that he's always got a working one, we have a later non-splutter one and he still takes the spitting one too! 😄

I put an old thick sock creased up over just the bottom end of my Karcher and that stops the spray.
We used some old cotton socks for the same reason, I called them it's nappy. 😆

Didn't know that, thanks (y)

Karcher for us too. Works brilliant although our 1st one gave up the ghost after just a few months. It is a model that came with two different sized heads. Used on our big windscreen and also in the shower with good results. Trick is not to let it fill up to much or you will get some splash back when horizontal. Also, we always take the battery out after use as we found a bit of moisture could end up trapped in there if not careful..I think that’s what kaputted our first machine.😲🫣

Gave up on the Karcher, don’t get the attraction, it’s taking up space in the shed now. Much easier with a couple of micro fibre towels.
