Wifi

A lot more info required to help you. “Fitting Wifi” do you have a phone that you hotspot to - that’s wifi. Purchase a Mifi device such as TP link stick a data sim in it, or have a look on the solwise site to see what’s available. Browse this MHF to see what members are fitting or browse YouTube eg Explore Van. That should give you an idea of costs and skill level required.

I assume you mean mobile data not WiFi.

Easy to fit yourself if you don't mind drilling a hole in the roof.
DIY prices anything from around £250 up to about £800.

A decent Poynting or similar aerial £130 to £190 depending on model.
As for a router a CAT4 4g about £100 to £150 but that probably won't perform much better than your phone you need at lest a CAT6 5g preferably higher so could be looking at £400 to £500.

What is the cost of fitting WiFi is it possible to fit it myself
I fitted mine myself. I fitted a netgear nighthawk 4g router. This has external aerial sockets. So I also have a roof antenna (Poynting). I think the roof antenna is important to get a signal even if its fairly weak. If not fitting a roof antenna you may as well use a phone hot-spot in my opinion. It's great having permanent built in Internet. Everything remembers it and just works. I have cctv and remote Victron monitoring thanks to the permanent internet connection. So glad I fitted it. 5g is more expensive but 4g is good enough for streaming netflix.

The first part of that question is a bit (a lot) open ended.

A bit like what is the cost of buying a motohome

The second part is a lot easier. Try starting with something like this - just put a SIM card in, charge it, and off you go.
You have fiitted wi-fi.

Somebody will be along in a minute to say - there are much better units than that.
but if you start simple, you will learn a lot.

And it may last you a long time. Ours has.

That is only CAT4 probably won't work as well as a modern phone.

A number of Funsters have one of these, including ourselves.

If you do a search on ZTE MU5001 on here you'll find a few threads on it.

It's a CAT20 5g unit and, for the price, probably the best value 5g unit out there.

We've also got a Poynting aerial but, if truth be told, we frequently don't have to connect the mifi unit to it as the signal strength is sufficient.

We like it as it's portable (battery powered) so you can move it around, eg take it on holiday with you if not in motorhome. Size is similar to a smaller mobile smartphone.
