I'd welcome advice.

Frankie Platin plus. has fancy Buttner solar, inverter, charger, 3 lithium etc.

It intermittently trips the RCD on EHU.

Last year it tripped the campsite in Brugges!.

It's had the Frankia lead drum thing removed and usual blue 3 pin instead. RCD replaced several times. new freezer.
Helpful chap in Luxembourg and local caravan hospital have looked and said was OK.

It has worked well last 12 months.
Worked well 3 nights Forest of Dean.

returning home it repeatedly tripped on connection to house EHU.

Work around was to switch off 12v, re switch RCD, then turn 12v back on and now works.

Some have said it is the inverter sending 240V, so RCD gets 240 two ways. AFAIK the inverted was switched off.

Trouble is am about to go to Alps so need confidence of EHU.

Thoughts?

Do you have a self defrosting fridge or freezer? If so it could well be the heater shorted or damp. It appears random as it's a combination of time and temperature that decides when it needs to go into a defrost cycle. We have had it twice, once at home with a domestic fridge freezer, and again in the van with the Thetford.

Could be - thanks. Fridge was on battery on arrival at home.

So is the work around with turning off 12v prior reliable and good idea?

Have you tried switching off and unplugging every 230V device in the motorhome? Does it trip then? If it doesn’t it’s then a process of elimination. Turn on each 230V device (e.g. fridge, charger, heater) one at a time and wait a while after switching a device on to see if it trips. It can be a pain to track down what’s causing it but you just have to be methodical about it. Good luck!

If that fails. Or you want to get the answer quicker. You can buy an earth leakage meter off Amazon and do something like this;

Search Amazon for "earth leakage clamp meter". No need to get an expensive one for this, as you are not after absolute accuracy to the milliamp, you are just trying to track a fault.

That points possibly to the charger if that's the only 240v item in circuit, or check the connections at the back of the inlet plug point. Usually unscrews with four screws. The mastic may need replacing after.
