Who has taken the MH out today

For those of us Fortunate enough to live near the coast we can visit the seaside and stay “local“.

Some, at the places we go, have seen & met us before & as we are not a ”standard” van are pretty Unforgettable.
Even so at the moment we will only go out in it weekdays & for days not overnights, till things return to normal.

Some folk do overreact & thats unfortunate but circumstances are not at all normal & we all need to be super understanding.
We are both of a certain age & my partners disabled & with all the loos & cafes currently closed we can only visit places in the van.

Good to see this thread

Have been very wary of going out for a day trip due to possible hostility. We are going about 50 miles to be with my daughter got granddaughters birthday bit that will be in a farm field all on our own. I figure that in three weeks the lockdown will have eased considerably.

Having seen this thread we might risk a day out to Northumberland where we know we can park somewhere fairly isolated - has anyone experienced any real hostility?

I will let you know on Wednesday as we are in Northumberland. We are thinking of heading up towards Hartside as it is remote with two car parks. As the cafe has not yet been rebuilt we think it will be pretty quiet.
My partner saw on Faceache that there had been a little resentment by locals to visitors at Bellingham. My opinion is that, as long as you are avoiding towns and villages, parking up for a cuppa somewhere remote should not cause any distress to local communities. A run out will do the MH no harm either.
Stay safe and keep well.

After a 8 week big gap I’ve driven the MH to Theale roundabout & back.
All went as well as the last pre-lockdown trip.
And mrskevenh had a stint at the wheel on main roads. So another box ticked.

Been out on the motorbike around The Dales this morning. Saw a few motorhomes out and about . A couple at Ribblehead parked up having a brew. We’re going to take ours out probably on Wednesday, again around the Dales.

I have been out in the van today, for a 40 mile round trip to get everything moving again, all seems ok. First time out in the van since our 1,500 mile dash back from Spain on the 14th of March, having only left the UK on the 5th of March for a trip that should have been for 5 weeks.

We went out on Friday, left home very early and were in our chosen car park on the cliffs with a wonderful view of the sea just after 7am. Only 2 cars there when we arrived.

Mark took the dogs out for a run while I did breakfast, then he went out for a long walk by himself down to the sea, along the coast and back up to the car park while I snoozed in the van, catching up with my sleep, the dogs slept as well. Then lunch (scrambled egg and smoked salmon), another dog walk with both of us so I could have a stroll.

We left the car park just after 2, it was filling up but I wouldn't call it crowded as there was plenty of room for parking, there was a coachbuilt backed into a gate entrance. We did see farmers going through the car park and the gate at the far end a couple of times and on our last stroll one of them was coming back and shouted at people from his van window to "Go home".

There was plenty of SD happening, although we did see 2 couples who, judging by their conversation, were friends rather than all members of the same household, they were all walking close together.

Lovely day out but we won't be going anywhere next weekend.

Out today for a short half hour trip to the Forest of Dean cycle trails. Done 10 miles on the bikes and now back at the van having lunch. Plenty of people out cycling and walking, car park reasonably busy but not rammed. Everyone social distancing responsibly. Currently 4 campers in car park including ours, plus cars. It’s been a relief to get out.

Got ours from storage Thursday took it for a 20min spin and then put it on the drive and spent 4 hrs cleaning pigeon crap off the roof alone. Took it back Friday had another 20 min drive and we actually got a van wave from another couple probably doing the same as us and it was genuinely nice to see another van out.

Dropped the two security posts, removed all the other security devices. Disconnected the electric hook up. Started the engine all ready for the off. Then realised I was in Scotland so no nonessential travel for us. Moved the van on driveway to rotate the tyres, put the van back into hibernation until the country comes to its senses. :(

Thanks. Would be interested to know how you get in
Just got back. The roads were quiet. Once off the A69 there was very little traffic and most that was were 'bikers. Hartside cafe has been flattened and there were about 50 - 60 people mainly 'bikers enjoying the view. There was plenty of space for distancing.
Only saw one other MH and that was when we were filling up in Hexham before we set off. We saw no sign of animosity but, we hardly saw anybody on the street apart from going through Alston.
Lovely run out though. Just what we needed.
Take care and stay safe.

"Toad" (Punto) needs MOT, and IF it gets a pass. I will have the clutch "done". Took it to-day to Garage, He is going to "do" it at his convenience. Wife followed in her car, so we went the extra 3 Miles to the Coast and had the dog a run on the beach for the first time since early March. (we locked down early as Wife was expecting operation, cancelled at last seconds!  ). Two motorhomes parked up near the beach front, Hymer had the sat dish up!, the other the Awning out!. Stopped off at Tesco on the way home, and got some petrol for the Geny, and topped the car up too. Next time, I will take the Motorhome!, do the "long" route and get it Hot and clear out the DPF.

Yep. Took it out to the garage to have management light sorted. Cost me £422 . Got a new part fitted , they sheared off a bolt while doing it which made the bill more and that was 10% off for OAP.

I have found it easier to let the substance what ever it is to go off in the removed nozzle . When it has cured in the removed nozzle, you can dig it out from the bottom with a small screwdriver all in one go, leaving the nozzle clean to be used again. With the tube if you seal some cling film over the end it will keep for a few months.

Apparently the local Police in Newquay carried out a door knock on overnighting Motorhomes at 6am today and politely sent them back to where they came from..... ?

Just wonder when we do get out whether motorhomes and campervanners will be treated like parrihas. Seems like a lot of bad press

I agree, we've taken our van out for a 30 mile round trip a few weeks ago just to charge the batteries etc. But can't help but feel that some people will consider us as lockdown breakers even though we live by the coast and l've spoken to others motorhomers who feel the same, crazy isn't it!!

Took ours for a spin to Southport and back...35 mls....saw approx 10 vans parked up on Pleasurelands, maybe fulltimers, or just parked up for the day. The park & ride opposite was closed.
The beach and the town looked very busy. We didn't stop.
Nice drive, no incidents, will do similar next week.

regards
Allen
