Who has left CAMC over their stance on Covid ?

If you leave over this, who are you really hurting. You joined the club because you liked their sites, maybe the location, near friends or family, the facilities etc. A multi million pound business will not miss you, but you will miss going to your favourite sites for the above reasons. All this bother for a pound a week. I know it’s a principal thing also but it will be you who are missing out. All campsites are business minded. Happy travels. (y)

This thread has confused me - can someone explain what the gripe is all about please as I seem to have missed it?

Oops - can answer my own question now I've found the other thread on this. Time to ask for my voucher...

The reason they will not open toilet/shower blocks is purely due to not being able to safely do so because of the need to ensure social distancing etc. You can't allow people to wander in and out of toilet blocks willy nilly, they'd have to stand in queues outside and observe a one in one out restriction, rain or shine. The sites have a duty of care, people would be unhappy if they opened the blocks and allowed a free for all. Many customers wouldn't come because they wouldn't feel safe if this happened. We all know kids and teenagers congregate in and around toilet and shower blocks on campsites. Until social distancing rules can be safely relaxed, with the operative word being safely, they won't open. Weve worked on campsite last year and have many friends working on CAMC and CCC sites so we speak from experience.

Have they officially stated they wont open toilet blocks when opening sites on april 12th, I thought the decision was still pending

We didn’t renew this year.
We don’t use Clubsites.
CAMC is dearer than C&CC. No we’re not tight just careful, have paid into the club for many years and not really had our money’s worth!
If we find we need the CAMC again we will re-join!

If you want free site night vouchers then never renew automatically, just cancel the DD, goto a show, e.g. the Feb NEC, renew in person they usually offer 2 X free site night vouchers as show promotions. These are 1 night free from a 2 night booking type, and you have to watch the expiry dates😁

It did me a favour,,,I really don't know why I didn't leave years ago...Booked the odd ferry and the tunnel through them but not used their sites or CLs for at least five years now...Was a member of the other lot but that was only to use their overseas rallies.BUSBY.

Would you like to rephrase that ? :winky:

We like the C&MHC and appreciate all it has to offer, especially the CLs and their Red Pennant insurance.

We see no reason to leave.

Update from them with the situation as of March 12th...

Following the UK Government's recent guidance, we are planning to reopen all our Club campsites in England from 12 April 2021. We are however awaiting further clarification on the use of communal areas and shared facilities (including toilet blocks and showers) and will advise on this as soon as possible.

What exactly is the stance on Covid that you object to? All I can see are measures introduced to keep people safe and well. If you don't agree with that you must be really suffering at the moment with all the restrictions on society in place.

WE left YEARS AGO they are a "club" NOT they're a business and for what they provide on "Club"sites is pitiful

We are members of Here and MCC and C&CC though will not be renewing C&CC when it's due next

They did last year. It all worked well. Wrist band system and some cubicles closed for safety.
Must better than pub toilets. They will be open.

I was a bit irritated when we used the York site last July. The facilities were shut and I understand that but I think they should have offered a discount as it must be much cheaper to run a site with no facilities.
Had a similar situation a couple of years ago when we went to one of their sites and they had no water. After waiting four hours for the water to be restored we decided to leave. We had two children with us and no water on board. I had to insist that they refunded us otherwise it just wouldn't have happened. Despite this we are still members. No voucher for us so far either.

I enquired about the voucher but didn't get one. I just thought I had to try. Did I stamp my feet and walk away! I just accepted that was the case, but why cancel my membership over it.

I didn’t renew a couple of years ago, not because I had a problem with club but because I was only really ever considering club sites when going away.

By not renewing, it made me consider more independent sites and pub stops, and that’s were I’m putting my money for the next few years to help them get back on their feet after the year they’ve had.
