Who’s a wally?

I once in my first camper, a 1974 Toyota hiace pop top , drove through Bude in Cornwall with the pop top up !!

Got some very strange looks.

Then put it down , and on the next speed bump my bike fell off the bike rack ....

I have seen a motorhome leave a CL with hook lead attached. I couldn't believe how much it stretched before giving way and breaking his back window.

I once ran over my seat at a rally after putting it underneath the van during a rain storm. Then having to move the van 2 metres to get into line.

Did my HGV training which involves a walk round the vehicle before setting off. I have got into the habit of doing this and I would recommend everyone does it. Over the years I have caught a number of cockups I would have made without this habit. Everything from flat tyres to exhaust pipes hanging off.

Look each wheel/tyre for deflation etc. peer underneath the van for any obvious defect and ensure all hatches are closed etc. Well worth getting into the habit as @G-RMPS will now attest..

Drove off from a campsite near Dover ferry with TV aerial up and Heki open but had also forgotten I'd forgotten that I'd been fiddling with ths satnav to see where I would be going in Calais and it was a while before I realised we were heading for the tunnel!
I could have got away with it under normal circumstances as Nick has no sense of direction but we were meeting someone at Dover and they let the cat out of the bag, damn.
