I’m about to fit daylight running lights to the van (bought the kit nearly a year ago) and note that the kit contains a Scothlok type connector (pictured) for splicing into the control wire (either the yellow wire if you wish the lights to go off on main beam or white if you wish the daylight leds to dim on main beam).

I’m not a fan of this type of connector and favour using Wago type connectors. Could someone please confirm the appropriate Wago connector from the Screwfix connectors available below:

Thanks in anticipation.

The Wago connectors would not fit as designed ie the Scotchlock doesn’t need the trigger wire to be cut as the Wago connector would.
If you do decide to cut for Wago then you would need enough slack in the trigger wire to use the three way version of 8421R product code.

Using Wago connectors you will have to cut the wire you wish to join to and strip back insulation and insert to the Wago connector. None of the Wago connectors in your selection are appropriate for joining three wires, you will need the three way connector.

Hope that helps?

The terminals in the connector are slightly further apart so the cut ends are long enough

When I fitted mine I made the connection inside the headlight. Drill a small hole in the bottom and feed through a grommet. Also consider a super seal connector between the control box and headlight so you can disconnect easily if you need to remove the headlight.

I love wagos for home use but in a campervan I'd never trust them, I prefer permanent connections. I would twist both wires being fed from the control wire into one male spade connector and crimp and shrink that, then crimp a female spade onto the control wire with one of the plastic covers over it then plug them together. For good measure I'd tape them with fabric tape.

Then don't buy a Dethleffs they are full of them....
