Will be changing all 6 (7inc spare) tyres soon and upping the profile/side walls from 65 to 75.
Pity as the rears are only a few years old….but the fronts are alot older albeit with decent tread, so thinking I may as well take the opportunity to change them all and up the profiles.
Currently looking between the Michelin and Continental below. Does anyone have experience of running these?
Any other tried and tested suggestions are welcomed too👍🏻
Kind of shying away from Camper tyres for the time being as I’ve read these can be hard riding - we don’t do massive mileage but are out regularly with the exception of extreme winter.
Just to note the Continental screenshot is from Asda mobile tyres, however just read a review from 2022 where a customer was pissed that the date stamp on her newly fitted Goodyears was 2019🙀. When she challenged Asda they look to have referred to some BRV ruling that states tyres are classified as ‘brand new’ if stored correctly up to 3 years and ‘new’ for up to 5 years…..think I’ll be paying the extra and going elsewhere.

When you order your tyres make sure you stipulate that the tyres are no more than say, 6 months, from manufacturing date.
Your about to spend a fair amount so your supplier should comply. (y)

When I replaced ours with Conti 4seasons I looked on line and got fitted prices from My tyres, Oponeo, Black circles etc. I then went to our local tyre fitter/supplier (Savoy) with the print out and asked if they could match the prices, which they did. All 5 tyres no more than a couple of months from manufacture date.

I think the same principle applies to gas hoses and bottles where the clock starts ticking only when they have been brought into use.

Similar situation... Every time I pull a panel or component off the van, the manufacturers mark suggests it was made in 2017. But the van wasn't registered until 2020. I wonder if the base vehicle is a couple of years older than the reg suggests? It's a low volume model, so it's possible... So and I'm already overdue due my first timing belt?

If you got a c of c it should state when left Sevel and the convertors. if not from the Vinumber check with .gov (may have to be general search) what recalls are relevant and work from there.

that makes sense but I guess the issue arises when you’ve not owned from new or replaced said part yourself; eg, buying a 2nd hand Motorhome with tyres that look to be 7 years old according to the date stamp but have perhaps only been on the vehicle for 2 years

I did the same and when I arrived to pay, before they were fitted, without asking they immediately took me into the workshop before fitting and showed me dates on all 5 tyres - less than 3-momths old.

I suspect that those of us who know the form get the newest ones and others get whatever the supplier/fitter can get away with.

I believe you can pay a bit extra with some suppliers (possibly Black circles) to formalise things and 'guarantee' that you get tyres manufactured the same year you purchase them. Possibly a bit annoying to have to do this and better to buy and fit locally if you have a trusted supplier/fitter, where you know you will get 'fresh' tyres.
