Autotrail Apache 632
Exp
Since Sept 2019
Hi girls n boys, we have an Autotrail Apache, 2012 vintage. It has the original tv in it and the roof has a triangular telescopic adjustable aerial. The tv was originally connected through the execrable OEM stereo which has been replaced with a new Panasonic CarPlay compatible dab/cd set up, double din with a big screen. They are not compatible. The question is what make n model should I replace the tv with? Ideally I THINK I want to plug a fire stick into it as I’ll want to use it in the UK and in France, Spain, probably in Croatia, Greece etc when we retire in 6-7 year’s time. Give me your experiences and thoughts please!

Thanks in advance!

Russ

I would suggest a tv that had a Bluetooth out put to connect to your stereo, if that’s what you want. If you Bluetooth the firestick, the pictures and audio will be out of sync. At least they were on mine. assuming you can connect via BT to your van stereo?

Is it the overcab (above cab seats) you're looking to replace?
Working on the assumption you've replaced a 12ELE2000 or 13ELE2000 head unit that has an inbuilt DVB-T tv tuner does your replacement Panasonic have an inbuilt tv tuner?
Alternatively, are you looking for a new "standalone" tv unit?

Hi Gellyneck. Yes the OE kit was a 13ELE2000, total junk. I can’t get the OE tv to work with the new stereo. The current monitor is a Veba AV152RMM. I want a “stand alone” tv unit, but I dont want to have to butcher the overhead console to get it to fit. I’m imagining a unit that I can plug a fire stick into. Found an Xtron unit that doesn’t have a dvd player (don’t need one) but it’s about 12mm too wide….. do you have any suggestions or experience? TIA!

The Firestick has in settings a tool for syncing sound to picture.
When I need too play tv through stereo I have a cable fitted and plug that into head unit.

The flip down unit is just a monitor, It does not have a tuner installed. You need to buy either a complete TV with tuner or a set top box .

I replaced our 13ELE2000 with an Xtrons TDS696AS (I think that's the model number) but it's discontinued. It includes a DVB-T tuner so just connected up to the existing drop down monitor.

As Dane Diabalo says it's just a monitor with no tuner so you need to get a head unit with one built in or a standalone tv tuner that plugs into your head unit.

Having said all that the drop down tv is not best positioned for viewing (can't use the rotating cab seats) so we installed another tv (Ferguson 24") next to the overhead locker that houses the tv aerial / amplifier.

That's an interesting idea! Sorry I haven't responded more rapidly, drove back to Runcorn from Aberdaron on Sunday, had a takeaway Ruby Murray the crashed out! Yesterday I was flat out at college all day and trying to locate some one who would install a clutch in my daughter's Suzuki Swift without me having to dispense with the shirt from my back!

Cheers All!
