I could do with putting a payg sim in my ipad for use when I can't find wifi, not going to use it much, really just for weather forecasts & quick check of emails. I'm a little confused by plans that say X amount for 30 days, does the money you've put onto it rum out after 30 days?

On 3 you get x amount of data for a month for x pounds. No carry over - if you don't use it tough.

It's okay really.

Yes, that is my understanding, the money you put in vanishes.

Would it not be easier to use a smart phone as a wireless hotspot? Assuming you have one of course.

Tries that, battery life of iphone limiting factor!

Ah, 3 months for £20.49 looks quite good, thanks.

Buy new sim cards. Better deal than topping up. When old sim dead, put a new one in. Keep your eye on ebay for Three sims, still get a bargain on new ones if you're lucky.

Changed what? I bought a 3 sim preloaded with 3GB valid for three months but the top ups only last a month. However, a top up I've already bought won't be activated until the initial 3GB has been used up.
They have a sim only data plan and a data plan designed for mifi devices. Both options are still available.

But isn't it confusing :(

I'm not sure about that unless you can get them at a discount, a new Three sim costs £20 with 3GB but a 3GB top-up costs less at £15.00 and you can get 7GB for £25.00. But of course it depends if you are going to use all the data, the data loaded onto the new sim lasts for 3 months, the topups just a month. I also had a real pain getting my card registered with Three, despite what it says onthe website you can't register your address, which the card needs, on line, you have to ring them up - which I found out only by accident.

I think we are talking with crossed porpoises, but they do seem to know what you are using their sim for. I put a PAYG phone (speaking type) sim into a mifi and it worked for a couple of days then I got messages telling me to put the sim back in the phone and it wouldn't work until I did! And the mifi sim I have now doesn't seem to work at all in a phone - as I tried it hoping I could use it to talk to Three to sort out my card registering problem.

I have tethering on my iphone with 3 so use that whilst in the uk and use that to hook up my ipad and netbook to the internet.
It never used to work abroad but now the tarrifs have changed i'm not so sure?

I've bought a £20 battery pack recently. It is brilliant, will charge my phone up from near flat to full in less than two hours. It is great to have ready for that moment when the device you are using suddenly starts to run out of steam.

Thanks, I've ordered a 3 month payg sim from 3 for £20. (y)

I bought quite a few 3 Sims 1gb data last 30 days once inserted from Currys

Broken Link Removed

at £3.99 for 1gb 30day sim on 4g its cheap and fast.

some of mine were cheaper still last christmas sale, I only resort to using them when I cant get a wifi signal to tap into. just insert another if usage high and start the 30days off again.

Have fun
George
