Hi all, thank you for letting me join! looking to purchase a used MoHo, is that the correct shortcut? had caravans up to now, still have a large Fendt, but it has a couple of Ukrainian refugee ladies in it!
Unfortunately I am a retired Engineer who has to understand the far end of a ***. We can only afford used, 2007/8 ish, but what do we think we want? well, a fixed bed for starters, a decent sized shower, I am 78 with arthritis! a good sized kitchen with full cooker etc, her indoors loves cooking, wet heating, suitable storage for a few months travelling, garage for scooter and or e-bikes. solar, inverter etc, we do not need a large lounge, we are a couple, with a couple of dogs! having googled a bit I like the look of the Burstner Elegance 821 and the Frankia 840/8400, what would you all think?
Looking at the two different Frankia chassis, the merc one is RWD with two axles, versus the alco Fiat FWD with tag axle. Hmmm, which is best? of course the dealers just tell you the one they have for sale is the best! pluses and minuses for both I guess, my head says RWD (twin wheels) would be better on grass and turning circle but soft suspension, the tag would be more stable in general driving, cross winds etc. I am informed that the Merc autobox is not user friendly as it is a manual box with an electronic gearchange, difficult on hill starts and in slippy conditions, no clutch pedal and no fluid flywheel, very on/off, whereas the FWD has traction control, so many variables.
I have not found a realistic mpg for either merc or fiat, manual or auto. So, what do you think folks, are we looking for 'unobtainium' or have I missed something, I realise that there are other A class manufacturers out there, these two seemed the most popular, happy to hear others opinions!

Hi Mike, welcome to the fun house. 😄

I assume you have a C1 licence still?
