changing a load of things again
Seems a daft question but I am starting the shower area in my boxer and thinking ahead where do people put the light switch and the relevant wiring? Would be nice to have close to the b/room door I was thinking of using the router to have a 5-8mm deep channel inside and up to the light as it will get covered by the 3mm white plastic sheet.

You can buy various lights with a switch built in. No need for a separate switch.

I put the switch on the wall outside shower near the door 4” down from the ceiling. The cables are in flexi conduit above the ceiling ply board.

Sounds like a plan. Doesn't really matter where the switch goes as its only 12v, put it in the bathroom if it's easier.

I've still got a MK2, 1972, I had to sell my MK1 years ago when I wanted the deposit for a mortgage. Wish I never got shut of it, they are making strong money these days.

All two wheeled modes of transport above are terrifying in their own, individual, ways. Give me 4 wheels any day, less likely to fall off and badly hurt myself! LOL!

I don't know what material you are cutting a channel in, but some plastics like polystyrene foam cause PVC cable to go brittle over time. You could make the channels in the foam wider, and line with rockwool.

the cut will be the furniture board and covered over with the shower walls. Although i am going with campervan_man and get a light with a switch on it.

i made that mistake when i self built and put far to many switches in like you would in a house i even two way switched one light unlike a house your only ever a step or two away
One thing i didnt do and wished i had was to keep one of the existing interior lights so they come on when you open a door doesnt have to be the original light just use the existing feed
Some details in the blog in my sig below not very professional but you might glean something from it
