Where to get propane cylinders in Spain?

if your still struggling i have a friend on Camping Tauro who has a new Safefill refillable 7.5kg cylinder which is full of propane with a standard UK propane connection and included in the sale is a Spanish adapter which allows you to top it up at any Spanish LPG station as well as UK LPG outlets when back home . You could use your existing UK gas bottle mounted regulator . www.safefill.co.uk
That sounds an excellent solution.

The butane will be OK in your system provided the temps don't drop at night, it does burn a little hotter as butane has a higher calorific value.
The only issue you have is if you are using an adaptor rather than a regulator on the butane bottle. If you bought an adaptor which is basically an on off valve then you need to replace it for a regulator.
Just get it checked and be safe.

he connector in the picture you posted of your system is unlike any that I have seen in that it has a threaded outlet connected to your system by a high pressure pigtail, I presume it is a crash regulator
No it is just a 'jumbo' adaptor. We use them to attcah to propane or butane cylinders to give high pressure when cutting & burning with oxygen , instead of having to use Acetylene.

I meant the regulator in the picture of her present Calor set up, all the screw in UK bottle top regulators that I have seen do not have a threaded outlet.

Yes that appears to have no regulator built into the van system and is reliant on the regulator on the calor bottle. The same set up that you would have on a portable camping stove.. Once the calor bottle with the calor specific regulator is removed it then needs a new regulator to fit the Spanish bottle and not an adaptor which appears to have been purchased.

Both camping shops said it was the correct regulator. Here are pics of the specs on the sides

Can you show us a picture of the actual regulator???

Here is a pic from the manual
Too dark underneath to take a pic of the set up at the moment.
A neighbour motorhomer has assured us we actually have two regulators one on the contraption and one on the bottle and to expect low pressure!

That is not a regulator that you need for connecting directly into your system, the output pressure is 2 Bar which is 2000 Mbars, regulator output pressure should be 30 Mb. as on your present regulator.

Your pipe/pigtail will probably fit onto the that 'regulador' but as I said before I have never seen a UK bottle top adaptor with a threaded outlet connection..

How is your existing regulator connected to the calor bottle? Is there some sort of fitting between the regulator and the bottle?

If you connect using that 'regulador' it will need to be connected to a bulkhead fixed regulator to drop the pressure to 30Mbar.

When you say contraption, do you mean the regulator shown in the manual is already attached to your van pipework? The reason I ask is, because you did not show any regulator on your pipework on your first photo.

The one on the left is the one you need that is a 30mb regulator the one on the right is a variable one which we used with a short high pressure hose then connected to our fixed bulk head 30mb regulator.
The one matamoros shows is the one you require.

We got butane 13k bottle with contract from Tauro campsite shop
No propane to be found anywhere.
- does anyone know if it might mess with our underfloor heating? We won’t chance the fridge on it.
Very glad to be able to cook again!
I think you can run all your systems on butane. But I would wait for a few more opinions before accepting my word. :)

I think what you need to ascertain is that there is definitely a fixed bulkhead regulator fitted which was not shown in your original photo, this would change things.

I see that you have a Globecar and would think that a bulkhead regulator would be fitted as standard.

I’ll ask that on my Globecar forum

Jac Sprat cant you just take a photo with your smart phone it will have a flash on it and the will enlighten everyone. Excuse the pun ?

Looking at your photo you have a regulator fixed on a Calor gas bottle, you need to do the same with your Spanish gas bottle, the regulator in the box is a free flow adjustable valve, and that's fine if you then fit a regulator on that or a high pressure hose to a regulator fixed on the bulkhead .

So if you fit a regulator like this to your valve no problem. ? Bob.

<Broken link removed>

Anyone coming to Spain it's always handy to carry an adaptor like this to convert your UK pol.

I have enquired and yes it Is. They come from the factory with a 30mbar bottle top regulator but most dealers exchange them for a bulkhead one.
My flash didn’t activate last night! Too much light from campsite lights. I’m pretty convinced I’m ok now.

Here’s a dim pic but hopefully you can see what we’ve got.
That looks fine if the thing with the hose connected to is the 30mB regulator you showed in post #68. :)

You should be good to go. Put the kettle on!

Fabulous thanks! We were so nervous we turned it off overnight!!

Jac, if you are in any doubt, we are not that far from you, up in Jalón, you would be welcome to drop in and Mr Armytwowheels and Mr Jenben could give your system a quick check. We are here until at least Friday, maybe longer.

What would be sensible would be to brush a mixture of detergent and water around the joints to check for any leaks when it's all turned on. This might throw up any incompatibility between threads and fitting. A pastry brush will do or the corner of a J cloth. Look for bubbles getting bigger. :)

Thanks we were less concerned about leaks but more about the possible lack of regulation. We’re using their fittings on heir gas so I’m sure thats ok.
We’ll check the rubber hose though like you suggest .
