Sorry if this is a stupid question ! Ok so I’m still deciding if I want to buy a VPN

BUT if I do , where do you install it - on what device - iPhone , on fire stick, or somehow on huawei mifi

I have a data sim for my phone or mifi - works in either

My VPN is installed on Windows laptop, IPad, iPhone & multiple Firesticks. It’s then local to the device whenever/wherever used. Not personally explored router installs.

Thanks for the reply - so does this mean, I guess , that the one purchase allows several devices ??

You pay extra, [ normally] for that function.
Can I ask for what purpose are you intend installing a VPN? There not always required.
Mike.

It should do, need to verify that with the vendor - some may have limitations such as max number of devices for installation or concurrent use etc.

One example:
Broken Link Removed

I only tend to use it to pretend I’m somewhere I’m not, most reputable websites use encryption as standard anyway (see padlock icon by url etc).

I’ve installed it on the router in the MoHo so all devices accessing the internet through it are covered by the VPN. It’s a Teltonika RUTX12.

The VPN is something you connect to. Its a Virtual Private Network that is run by a service provider. It allows you to connect across the internet using secure encrypted "tunnels" where the data you are sending/receiving is invisible to the underlying internet servers. So they can't do things like filtering based upon your source IP address or by the type of traffic you are sending.

The software you install on your endpoint device is a VPN client and it enables you to connect to the VPN. As above your VPN client can either be installed on each device you use to access the VPN OR on your router so that all data from your local network is encrypted and passed over the VPN.

But if your using U.K. sim not required
popit sim = 100gb which will give you approximately 100 hours of TV watching per month more than enough for most requirements
Thanks - that helps a lot

Assuming if you install a VPN on a mifi, all of the connected devices don’t need a VPN as the router is in theory is the master VPN for all devices ?

That is correct.
