A week last friday , i had the MH in for MOT, she is a big old girl, but the place i use was set up with a big ramp just for this purpose , so no biggie. However , since last year the axle lift jack has been replaced , and it wouldn't lift her.. so no MOT , and the ensuing wait, with phone in hand led me to find a 150 litre compressor just down the road, so i bought it.. as you do.

Now it means i can get some decent oomph to run the soda blaster i have for cleaning my bike parts up, so when i get home, i tell the boy that we can blast the badly painted swingarm on his 89 RM125, and make it look proper, so he strips it and i blast it, but in the process of blasting, we notice the shock bump rubber is split, so that has to come off, and be serviced.

So no worries, all in hand, but then i notice a small crack in the exhaust, which i take off, and sort at work, and refit , after cleaning and fettling , along with the swingarm. Then i paint the shock spring, which i sand blast , and when i get the shock back, i have to remove the exhaust again, and i notice a coolant weep which is coming from the head, so that has to come off and have new O rings fitted, and while doing that i see a crack on a weld on the radiator bracket .

So as it stands, a bike that just needed an air filter change, now has no rads on it, and needs to be ready to load tomorrow when i get home from work .

It is only tuesday, so its not like its a panic yet, but i cant help thinking if i had got my MOT sorted , i would be a lot better off and slightly less stressed.

Happens to my other half all the time when he's rebuilding 40 y/old racing Honda's . . .
Apparently the correct term is mission creep
