Just looking don't o
Hi All

New member here needing to get some opinions to help us in our quest to move from Caravaners to Motorhomers !!
So opinions please,We have been to see a 2012 autotrail scout frontier for its age it looks good inside and out vynils have been removed from cab maybe due to a respray or because of an accident however that didn't bother us too much.so here's where I'd like your opinion ,I checked back on its MOT history from 2015 to date all quite good until 2021 when it failed for a Engine management light on ,passes the same say but from that date until today it has only done approx 1500 miles every other year it averaged 3/4000 miles ! Should I leave it alone ?

Regards Obiknobi

Welcome. It a difficult one that as if the light is on they have to fail it, then reset it and test again. My van has been in to the garage 4 times with the light on an the RAC have been called out 3 times. It drives fine so they think it is only a sensor and told not to worry about it! Currently half way through France and it is still on.😱

Lockdowns, ? Many vans had reduced usage. AA report? well worth getting.

What's the reg? Someone on here might know the van.

Where abouts in the country is it, one of us might be prepared to come have a look at it with you if it's nearby.

What engine is it and what gearbox.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the eml, or subsequent mileage, but why not ask what the code was...

Cheers
Red.

I wouldn’t worry about fail due to warning light, especially if it passed the same day. It’s easy for a light to be reset, or to know the tester, and get a pass with light on, so the fact it failed shows me that it was an honest issue that they got sorted.

You're looking at an 11 year old vehicle it's unlikely to be as new. Id be a lot more worried about a recent damp check.
