When I say 'new' I mean 'new to you'

This thread isn't for those who are buying or have bought new vans.

It is for those who in normal times might have upgraded by now. Or those who are thinking about it but haven't

Why haven't you?

Prices too high?
Part exchange offers too low?
Anything else? Why aren't you upgrading/exchanging?

Prices still too high for myself. And my old motorhome has vastly superior quality to what seems to be available today. Well for the price I want to pay anyway.

Lots of motorhomes out there 13000 nearly I believe on auto trader. But when 10 year old vans are priced at the same price as they where when new thats too much for a lot of people

Also I believe with the current situation in the economy lots of people are Very unsure about committing to such a investment.

The goose that laid the golden egg has been laid to rest.

If they come down another 10k I will look to purchase.

Our 2004 Autosleeper Inca does all we need for extended trips, with none of the electrical issues that seem to plague more modern vehicles.

Plus it has ample payload.

We have a 2017 Hymer Tramp T678CL which we bought new. We were looking at vans to replace it. However, after looking at plenty, we have decided to hang on to ours. It is a combination of several reasons. We have uprated the van fitting loads of extras and made the van fit us. If we tried to upgrade to new van it would cost us around 60 -80k plus adding 10k on the extras we have now. Would we have better trips away, probably not.

Very happy with what we have though at 73 in under an hour health could always rear its head and I lose C1 entitlement which would necessitate a downsize and downweight!

Happy birthday tomorrow 😀

More modern vans seem to come with more problems. we are really happy with our 2002 hymer,I know all it's little quirks. As said better the devil you know.

It’s Welsh rugby really.

Until it improves I don’t see a motorhome future.

See you in 2038

My feelings precisely (y)

I only intended to keep my 2003 B544 for a couple of years, that was in 2015
I've looked a newer vehicles but can't justify the cost / benefit balance so I stick with what I have and am happy with

Happy with the one we’ve got.

Who knows what will happen with pollution regulations and diesel penalties/emission goals, etc etc.

Our van doesn’t owe us anything, so we wouldn’t want to spend a load more money when things are so uncertain. It suits us, and as long as I get my C1 this year, we can still both drive it, so no point in changing it!

As a few have put above the future is very uncertain for vehicles in the UK especially motorhomes. People simply don't want to get there fingers burnt and end up with something that they can't use anymore due to new regulations.

I know mine inside out and have kitted it just the way I want it. I know all the quirks and know it has been very well looked after and is in great condition.

Until it becomes uneconomical to repair or spends too much time being fixed, I will keep it.

We’ve had 5 different vans in the U.K. and 1 in the USA. Loved them all in different ways but our Weinsburg ticks most of the boxes.
Keep it for now.

We’ve spent time and money fettling her the way we like her, and there’s nothing on the market that’s anywhere near as nice. Prices are extremely inflated, anyway.
