Our first (and only to date) MH will reach its 3rd birthday in a few months. What sort of MoT will we need for it (and how much should we expect it to cost)? It is a coachbuilt on a Ducato chassis under 3.5 tonnes.

It will need a Class 4 which has a maximum cost of £54.85, I pay £35 at my local garage.

Great, thank you very much. Sadly at 3m high and nearly 7m long our local garage can't do it.

Check where your local council has their vehicles, ie refuse trucks, mini buses etc, done as they may do yours, that’s where I had mine done in the past.

You may have to use a garage that can do Class 7 but don’t let them charge you for a Class 7 test.
And trying not to confuse you - make a Class7 garage aware you are only Class 4 when you book. Not all are aware of the MH Class4 classification.
When I first got the RV a tyre centre wrecked some wheel studs but a commercial Ford & Slater site opposite looked after it and replaced for me. As a thank you I said have the next MOT only to arrive and the tester pointed out I was 'only' Class4 and had to book elsewhere as they are now only Class7+

Thanks for clarifying. My local car garage said there is somebody in nearby New Milton that might be able to do it - now I know what to ask for (y)

I take mine to a local indy garage who can do all the servicing but is too big for their MOT section but they take it next door to a garage that is also an HGV dealer and it gets done there... coat as per a car..
