I’m new to RVing and have been doing a lot of research for what device to use in the RV while I’m away from the RV to keep pets safe and be able to check in on them. I have a camera that is wi-fi compatible, but need to know what device is best for internet/wifi connection. I’ve been seeing that the Ryoko is a good device, but there is a subscription, I won’t be traveling all the time, so was hoping for something that I could subscribe to as needed. Any tips/information would be greatly appreciated.

I use a Netgear nighthawk M1 router with a data sim card and a wifi camera from Amazon and find it works well for keeping an eye on the dog whilst away from the motorhome.
Others on the forum have gone even more techie and monitor the temperature inside too.
I've not bothered with this as the dog is usually only left for relatively short periods and with blinds closed and fan running it stays fairly cool.
What RV have you bought ?
We mostly have European motorhomes on this forum so probably much smaller than the RV ?
Would be nice to see some pics 😀

I think in the US what we call a router is known as a gateway. This can provide a Wifi signal in the RV. Add a Pay As You Go (PAYG) sim card (I think you use the same name) and you can buy access by the month.

There are options for the gateway, there are little battery powered ones called (here) a MiFi or larger units which are wired into the vehicle. Some models can use an external antenna on the RV roof but you may not need this if you are not straying into the wilds away from towns.

And welcome to the Forum!

So, you go out for a nice night and then log into an app to see that the dogs are barking their heads off. This upsets you and you go home. Evening ruined.
Do not go there. Go out and enjoy your selves. 👍
