Getting Better
I have my plastic driving license, V5, MOT insurance on my phone (digital) but doesn’t cover Morocco so will be getting ins at the border….

Anything else..?

Passport would be handy :-) If you have a trailer they want a logbook for that too. Otherwise complete.

It has been suggested multiple photocopies of the above are useful for police. So far I have only given them to campsites, so am coming to the opinion that is more likely to be useful if going south to Western Sahara.

Sorry,
Couldn't resist.

V5, driving licence, passport. Plus insurance or at the border. That's all you need. And yes a good map is ideal but Google works OK and sat nav maps are ok. Plus paper money euros or stirling.
Plus make sure you get an open return ferry ticket.(y)
When your on the ferry you need to pick up a couple of entry forms to fill in to present at the immigration desk plus he will want to see both faces against the passports.. V5 only needed when you dock and go through moroc customs..

I intend to change money on my card for cash or withdraw at atms, is that doable Jim …?

Yes but you will need some at the ports if you use the peage down to Asilah think it was 77 D. Best just to get some D change at the port. They will exchange stirling or euros but not that great a rate.not sure if there are any atms at the port .
The first petrol station accepts credit cards but just check first the diesel is gasoil and its around 14D a litre.
The campsites are cash generally before you leave.( they take passport details)

We got an international driving license from the Post Office for Morocco section 68
I think £5
We will be there after Christmas hopefully so may see you. Autotrail Tracker Fun sticker on front screen.

Haven't been asked for one. It is helpful to have a connection from the port for navigation. Lebara's Morocco add on let me down, so glad had a google maps download. Probably should have got an overpriced SIM from the border. Don't forget the cash requirement for the insurance; there's one ATM at Tang Med, but you don't want to totally rely on it. I found a 1500 limit 'funds not available' for more :-0

I’ll be going over 28-29th January so may see you around, you can’t miss me, I’ll be the tall dark handsome one…😎

Have to check again but doesn't Spain require an International Driving Licence?

Driving in Europe

You do not need an IDP to drive in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein if you have a photocard driving licence issued in the UK.

You might need an IDP to drive in some EU countries and Norway if you have either:

  • a paper driving licence
  • a licence issued in Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man
Check with the embassy of the country you will be driving in.

I did check and got one and WAS asked to produce in Morocco, once.
Might have just been a jobsworth but the Police were always courteous and friendly
