What make is it?
Think it’s 2-stroke as exhaust pipe is too low on barrel for side valve.
Seen in France!
Ignore the orange light sat on it.
It has plunger suspension. Don’t think that is an oil tank on side looks more like a toolkit ‘box‘!
Snapped it as we drove past.

I did wonder about DKW but their tank badge tends to be on the bulge of the tank, think this one had a badge set into the knee pad.
Peugeot is close on the front forks, plungers and seats but gear lever is wrong!

Its there to stay..ish with 2 chain locks on the rear wheel and there is a cable to the orange lamp..alarm.

Slight mistype. Should be 176 but yes a Peugeot only difference might be the gaiters on the front legs?. I understand they where French police issue?

French version of the DKW/Bantam war repatriation! Like the Le Velocettes and the BSA Bantam they were * Govt issue* Remember racing against these in the early 1970/80's in the Circuit des Pyrenees and they were entered by the French Army, cheating sods changed bikes at every control! Why fill the tank, change the bike!

No.......... Most of the early DKW!s had pressed steel front forks... As in your photo...
And the one in the photo does not have the rear "shock". Known in the UK as a "sprung heel". A pal in the 60`s had the BMW with such and a leading fork front end.

Its an NSU

Yes. I think “mine” is a DKW, early one. Just a bit confusing with the side engine casing being a slightly different shape but things change over the years, yes hubby we should have stopped.
Definitely not an NSU!
