The black round tub like item.

It's leaking when I run water down the sink from my bathroom.

Many thanks all :)

It's the equivalent to a U bend.
Stop the tank stink coming back up.
Usually horizontal though so I doubt it's effectiveness.

Yes it's a waste trap but looks to be in an odd place, where does that grey waste pipe go to ? If that's underneath the van it will freeze easily and that's probably why your is leaking.

Yes under the van

Grey waste pipe goes to waste tank

It's coming from the shower tray and sink in bathroom I think

It doesn't look damaged but there doesn't appear to be any kind of seal inside it. Just a hard plastic twist and lock mechanism

Which way uop should it be? Lid on top or bottom?

Bottom probably, so you can drop the muck out of it when it fills up. I looks like a glued joint, so you'll need a couple of inline connectors and a bit of pipe if you want to take it out.

Or just take the bottom off and clean it out, if the water's flowing OK it might not back up and leak.

What's the right sort of glue to use to seal these pipe fittings together when re doing? Is something like ct1 ok?

I'm happy to be corrected but I think the bog standard PVC cement works fine on them. Screwstation, ToolFix or any DIY store.
