What is this on Ducato dashboard ? 20241229_153426.webp20241229_153434.webp

It was a remote receiver for an aftermarket item, probably an alarm… it might still be there can’t you see the end that may have come off..?

Underneath it is the temperature sensor for climate control.

Stupid place to put as when driving on sunny days in winter the suns heat through the screen makes it think the vans warm and your feet freeze as its turned the temperature down.

On the X250 it's the cover for the dusk sensor for automatic headlights when fitted. Ours has the cover but no sensor.

We removed it and use the hole to feed through cables attached to USB sockets on the back of our aftermarket media unit.

I don't believe that is correct see my post above.
I have had two x250's and an X290 with climate control and that is where the sensor is for it.

Is that the cab climate control you're talking about? If so, we've got that and nothing underneath that cover.

Yes, there is a thermistor under the cover if you have full climate control.

My controls are just below the screen.

Mmmmmh.

We've got an aircon button so maybe not full climate control.

This is ours after it's removed.

Nothing attached to it and nothing underneath it.

Guy at FIAT Pro told me after I'd removed it it was the location for the auto headlight sensor but stand corrected.:notworthy2:

Wonder where the auto headlight sensor is then when fitted?

The bit above looks like, albeit smaller, the sensor on our car for the lights.

I thought it was at the top of the screen.
As you can see, nothing under ours.

Believe the auto wiper sensor is fitted behind the mirror at the top of the windscreen. But, maybe, lights one as well?

I knew I had read that about the rain sensor somewhere.
Yeah, I know! I must be a girlie reading the manual!xroll:

RAIN SENSOR
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The rain sensor is located behind the rear-view
mirror in contact with the windscreen and has the
purpose of automatically adjusting the frequency
of the windscreen wiper strokes depending on the
intensity of the rain during intermittent operation.
IMPORTANT Keep the glass in the sensor area clean.

Just a thought. Yeah, I'm off for a lie down after that!
Wonder if it's a combined sensor that's fitted so you either get both or nowt!

I'm puzzled overthat cover, my Hymer has climate control and dual airbags, and the cover seems to be fixed. Yet I've seen other vans with it raised ? Is there a reason why some move and others don't ??

Are you asking about the panel with the clip attached to it?

If so, some units with passenger airbags have a fixed panel whereas later models introduced a hinged panel. Allegedly, it was to do with the hinged panel in the raised position impacting the passenger airbag if activated.
