Hi we have had our ourdoor
Revolution movelite Oxygen awning up this week at a very rainy site in the New Forest and have had lots of lesks.
My first thoght is when we get it home fabsil the fabric and ssal all seams.
But taking it down yesterday i noticed that quite a few of the nylon tie down cords have started to degrade, they look like they are rotting.
And it made me think that i might be wasting my time treating the awning.
The awning is about 6 years old used about 2 weeks a year and i treated it with nikwax solar when we got it.
I know that outdoor revolution say that their awnings should not be left up for long periods due to uv degradation .
Has anyone successfully treated an awning this old or got any thoughts onnif i am wasting my time and money.
Paul

It depends where they are, I've seen bits of awnings disintegrate in 6 weeks of Spanish sun. Also with most makes, If you pack it away with even the merest hint of moisture you'll kill it quick too.

Agree with Jim.You do appear to know about various proofing agents...UV will be your worst enemy as will damp...the quality of the manufacturer's materials could be suspect too....of course you can get repairs done on tie down points..the main body is more difficult....sewing points become strained, the stitching holes in particular become enlarged.

Had our inflatable Vango awning 4 years and it was 3 years old when we bought it. Use it 2-3 times per winter only as somewhere to dump wet gear. Always dry it out in the garage and reproof once a year with Fabsil. So far so good 🤞🏻

In my case, 3 uses then about 12 months before I sold it on ebay......

Sounds like expensive things these driveaway/standalone awnings.
Buy a new one use it a few times then bin/sell it!

We had a 4 seasons tent it should have lasted years and be pretty bomb proof except in its first use in France it just started falling apart. The e seams were glued but someone forgot to rich it ! Apparently the whole batch had not been stitched in the factory in China Doh !

i thought modern tents were synthetic ,ie plasticand didnt rot in the wet

Most are made of Polyester, my Vango is 420DD polyester fabric, manufactured to
*iso5912 - All Vango tents are designed to the stringent international standards of ISO5912, which specifies requirements on safety, performance, rain resistance and fitness for use.

**UPF - A rating system used for clothing and fabrics that protect you from the sun

Haven’t a clue what any of that means 😲
