2010?
Who only uses premium diesel rather than ordinary diesel?
Any difference do you think ?

Who don’t buy their fuel from supermarkets ?

Just a thought as recovery guy said he wouldn’t touch supermarkets fuel 🤷‍♀️

Both my Freelanders had to have new EGR valves at about 50k miles, independent repair guy said:
1 never use supermarket fuel
2 every 4 tanks treat it to premium branded
3 give it a good thrashing regularly
4 this will stop things sooting up

Don't know if he was right, but that's what I'm doing on my new van, especially as we have diesel heating and it might stop that from gumming up ( give that a good full throttle burn occasionally as well).

Your recovery guy obviously has plenty of money…😆

All my life always used the cheapest I can get and so do millions of other people…😎

I stay away from Morrisons diesel, because I was told it was biodiesel, don't know if it true or not, most fuel comes from the same storage facilities just the additives are different when loaded.
It's all biodiesel of some form, you can't buy anything else at the pump. It's what the E10 stands for... 10%

I've used the cheapest available for many years. Then read a number of articles in the last year (I can't recall what triggered it) and they mainly suggested having a periodic - maybe 1 tank in 4 - tank of the good stuff. Reportedly helps get rid of deposits, cleans injectors, improves performance and fuel efficiency and helps the engine to last longer. When I remember that is what I've done since.

Or just fit a blanking plate. 240k on original EGR

Over a million miles on supermarket fuel so your mechanic mustn't have shares in Tesco
After the way the supermarkets taised their prices in 21/22 and continue to, they will never get another penny for fuel from me.

Costco can be upto 20p a litre cheaper, and its premium, so more cetane etc.

And concur, Morrisons diesel caused a l/r disco to run awful, switched to costco and it ran much better.

I don't qualify for a Costco card ☹️

Independents raised their prices just as quick as the grunt supermarkets but were slower to drop them 🤷

E10 or E5 is a petrol specification not Diesel the std diesel is B7 the number determining the % amount of bio fuel. ethanol in petrol FAME in diesel (fatty acid methyl ester ?)
For OP I use std Sainsburys diesel but add Millers eco additives. been concidering an alternative.

The “qualification” criteria is most people, and even if you cant, borrow a card once for the fuel, keep the receipt and you can then continue to return..

Only checks that its actually your card is on entry to the warehouse.

I've been using supermarket diesel for well over 30 years in cars, vans and motorhomes without a problem, Fords, several Fiats, Honda and a David Brown tractor.
I put a bottle of Wynns adative in the motorhome perhaps once a year.
I did once fill with 'super diesel' or whatever it's called once but noticed no difference at all, assume it's for high performance, higher compression vehicles like BMW and Audi father than your avarage motorhome plodding along at under 3,000 rpm.
How often do you take yours up beyond 3,500 rpm?
I'm guessing that the main manufacturers who sell their wares to some 3rd world countries, Africa, South America, parts of Asia where the diesel may not get to the same standard as Europe, don't have many problems or they'd not be selling many

We had to replace the turbocharger 3 years ago, due to gummed up variable vanes. My mechanic recommended using super diesel. I now always fill up at Costco. They only sell premium diesel and it can be more than 40 p/litre than the motorway.

We joined Costco many years ago at the Malvern show. The cost of annual membership is easily recouped by the savings on fuel prices, especially for premium diesel.

I certainly wouldn't put E10 in a diesel it wouldn't like that at all😁

In France we get E85 15% petrol 85% ethanol, I have run my Toyota Rav4 on it for the last 5 years, the only issue is it takes a few goes to start if the weather is cold, at 60-70 cents a liter I have saved a fortune.
