What do you pay for storage ?

Inside farmers locked barn with ehu. Five miles away. £120 for three months in winter only.

£540 per year.

On a working farm so non-certificated but 24 hour access is only via electric gates controlled by registered mobile phones, 1/2 mile drive past the farmhouse, key-coded steel gate into the yard and then key-coded electric shutter to the internal storage. CCTV covering all external and internal spaces. Electric hookup, water, van cleaning area and use of workshop.

Added bonuses, 1 1/2 miles from us and the family are lovely, friendly and very helpful.

£216 for a large pitch, CASSOA silver? no CCTV. Compacted hardcore with tarmac access lanes. Was 24hour access prior to COVID, now somewhat less. Perthshire.

I pay nothing as it’s sits on my drive a PVC at 4.5 metres will stand free of charge on most peoples driveway 👍😎

£600 pa for indoor CASSOA Gold and at the moment an extra £11 per month to keep vehicle battery on charge.

In normal times we spend about 7 months of the year touring Europe in the motorhome so it looks expensive for effectively 5 months storage, but there is a long waiting list for storage spaces.

On the plus side, it's a very secure and manned facility with well controlled access arrangements so will continue to use whilst we own a motorhome.

£500 a year, undercover truck size carport, unfortunately lost it last year.

Park on drive free of charge.

Sorry just had to say it

I've given some thought to this myself as I need a new business idea due to covid and age

I've worked out that a 200 vehicle storage area with 80 premium indoor slots with hook up and washing facilities @ £500 per annum for basic outdoor hard standing and £800 for the 80 premium slots with secure fencing and gates along with full CCTV and on site presence is the ideal (in Northamptonshire)

Obviously add a grey waste point and water fill for clients conveyance.

The initial outlay (since I already have the site and barn and can do the gates, CCTV and electrics myself) would take 6 years to recover and then your into a reasonable work load and a good return.

But for me theres just too much competition on the door step

£280 for 6 months inside secure storage
And it’s plugged in for approximately
8 hours once a week which keeps both habitation and cab battery charged

£35 per month for CASSOA gold site in Cheshire. CCTV and double gates to get through and hardstanding pitch. Access from 8am to dusk (no later than 8pm in summer)

Used to pay £300 p/a for a non-certified site in Berkshire (half the price of anywhere else). Security was good, but not flawless as they often left one of the gates open during peak times. However, the owner lived on site, which was a good bonus. Probably about 100 units on site.

We used to store or caravan at Headon Farm caravan storage Near Holsworthy North Devon.
Prices have gone up since we did 3 years ago, but its a working farm, Cassoa Gold, CCTV, owner occupied, and has a great campsite also.
Very impressive aircraft type hangers for indoor storage, with loads of land arround the outside hardstanding areas, if I were to guess I would say they must have 300/350 vans with a long waiting list. Very secure, lovely owners, see updated prices below.

£600 per year hard standing outdoors in a CASSOA Gold Site in Kent, unrestricted access with a dongle to open gate, access to water for washing van and EHU just to charge batteries, owner lives on site.

I will add this from the first post again

PS I don’t need any information about people who park on their drive or for free somewhere
Missed the PS but for those who are considering on going costs a PVC on the drive may be useful cost saving but acknowledge it’s not useful for the OP

I was spending best part of £800 per year storing on a cassoa gold site on a farm and campsite based in the new forest. There were a few facilities and good security with the owners and extended family living in properties on the only lane leading to the entrance. 3 fields had been put to hard standing with electric gates and cameras on all of them

£1500 PA Inside with electric and full 24h access 10m + size. North West region. Cassoa Gold. Van wash facilities, fresh water and dump.

We used to pay £600 per year. Hard standing and access to water and waste dump. Unfortunately owner couldn't get planning for more vans and then lost planning for small site he had. It was secure fenced fob entry with owners living on site. As he fought planning decision for many years we used it. This site was also close to M25 in North Kent. If you can get planning and can get a secure site in North Kent you could do very well.

£360PA North East
Cassoa Gold CCTV, security alarms, electrified fence and fob access.

Limited access 8am to 8pm and no facilities, would pay more for water and waste dump.

Electric would be a bonus but not essential, use and provider costs could be limited by a timer say a few hours weekly for those who need battery top ups but suspect the initial costs would be out of proportion to the additional revenue.

We pay £400 per year in a open storage yard. It's a ex farmyard with electronic gates and security cameras at the main entrance. We have a pin to enter. Then a 2nd compound with a 2nd system to enter/leave.
The old refurbished farm buildings are mainly taken by the motor sport fraternity as it's very close to
Oulton Park.
It's about 8 miles from my home.
I can leave my car/Caddy Van when i take the Mo Ho, also i am allowed to work on the MoHo should i need/want to.
Access 24 hrs.

We have a few gold standard sites within 20-miles of us (Kimberley caravans, Durham C&MC site, Marquis Tyneside, Catterick Caravans and a couple of other private sites and all charge around the £500 point, each with access control, metal fences, hard standing, CCTC etc.

....and all have waiting lists.

£51/month for HS on CASSOA Gold site, CCTV, fob entry, palisade fencing, 2 wash bays, compressor, grey and black waste dump and fresh water.

£360 around the back of a working farm in Cheshire, not accredited but a CL and 10 minutes from house

If you ............could find a level field near an M25 exit, that you could convert into a secure storage area then I think you would have no shortage of customers.

Add to that a (franchised?) regular valet/cleaning operation and I think you could make money
The M25 is a bit of a hike to run the site from Scotland for the OP. ;)

Been having a quick look around as our storage is up for renewal at the end of the year and come up with these pricing options (not checked availability, etc as yet).
  • Scottish Caravan Storage, Tranent - £550 \ annum - hardstanding (CaSSOA Gold)
  • C&MC Strathclyde - £460 \ annum - hardstanding (CaSSOA Gold)
  • Glasgow Caravan Storage - £550-600 \ annum - hardstanding
  • Lugtonridge Storage - £>400+ \ annum - hardstanding (CaSSOA Gold)
  • Gem Caravan Storage, Crossford - £240 \ annum - grass
Hope it helps.

£600 a year in a covered, locked hangar. Have EHU. Closed circuit tv, two locked bar gates to access hangar. Fresh water available. 5 miles from home.

We pay £700 to store at CAMC site Gatwick. CCTV but restricted access which can be a pain eg winter hours 9 - 6 and now with Covid the winter hours have remained all summer. There is somewhere to clean the van, empty grey and black waste plus a loo to use.
