What do you clean your windscreen with?

Heres my favorite wash tool, it virtually a giant syringe and sucks the water up from your bucket. It will reach the top of my extra high top to get the bugs off.

GLASSACT Professional.
Itโ€™s what the shower installers use.
Perfecto.

Never mind what product, how do you even reach the windscreen on a Ducato?. Iโ€™m down to using an extendable T pole but thereโ€™s no way I could use wire wool, toothpaste or many of the other products mentioned .
HI Dunnah, are you a S A P (short arse person) like me ,how does anyone reach the top of the windscreen with a clay bar !!! or any spray stuff, i use a pole thingy to reach the top with some fairy liquid on but it's not great so if anybody can tell how i can reach the top please do ,and i would never put rain x on the screen as it comes off when you use your wipers only on side glass and mirrors.Fiat ducato autotrail

Haha - not a SAP at near 6' but there's still no way I can reach the bits you need to look through unless I'm prepared to out myself in mild peril

Reaching all over a Ducato, or any other van, screen is easy if you know how, but being old and decrepit means it probably won't work for you.

Simply stand on the top of the front wheel! A guy in the first fuel station into Morocco did it, simples!

But thinking on - it probably won't work for an A-Class or super-liner-gin-palace. :mm::mm:

No room for size 12 feet on top of the front wheels on my racing Ducato Maxi?

Our Transit had a couple of foot steps at the front that allowed me to reach up over the windscreen. Since changing to a Fiat Ducato I have bought a brush/scraper with a telescopic handle

Hot soapy water and a pair of old tights from The Duchess.....great for getting flies and other matter off the windscreen.
And you donโ€™t have to use the wifeโ€™s tights if sheโ€™s unhappy about it........just ask any any gorgeous blonde with a large chest if you can borrow her tights, then you can enjoy your work even more.
In fact, you can also use hold-ups and proper stockings, but remember to make sure the suspenders arenโ€™t attached.:rofl::rofl:;)

I'm only 6 foot 3 but I can reach higher than the top of my hymer windscreen with ease

Now the frankia was a different story I needed an extending microfiber mop to do outside windscreen

Inside is easy on both

I ran out of Autoglym clear glass the other day and as a desperate measure I used a baby wipe. A single wipe worked five times faster than Autoglym and did the job to perfection.

Rain X for glass and there is now Rain X for plastic as the instructions for the latter tell you not to use it on plastic. I've used it on my hab windows and it acts exactly the same as the original. Oh I also add a bit to my washer bottle.

I use a wire brush. Gets everything off. Good on paintwork as well. Only downside is having to drive with my head out the window. More seriously, a good spray glass cleaner and microfibre cloth works wonders. Newspaper etc was pre MC (microfibre cloths). All other wacky ideas were pre MCโ€™s.

To clean the screen on my Ducato I find reasonably easy. U use a set of steps two/three treads so not too high. Place near front wheel, steppe then onto top of tyre. Yes I have to stretch being a short guy ta 5'6, but I can reach half way easyish. Using a brush it is very easy. The problem is trying to clean the overhang, I use a battery operated jet system as recommended by Two on Tour, that helps a lot but actually getting my extendable brush up there is pathetic, it won't smother the front only touches, having seen that extended mop top re post 32 by Jezport I reckon will donate trick. So if Jezport or anyone can tell me where to get it and the proper name then I can look into it.

I use several things for the screen, but the E cloth use is essential. Rainex, I have plenty of that but I must confess I have not thought about using it as as screen wash or even on the screen. I use iron occasions to clean the visor on my motorcycle helmet visor.

When Rain-X first came out I'm sure it said not to use it for windscreens as it would smear. I did use it for a while on the other windows (until the bottle ran out) but found a good wash with water and a microfibre cloth worked just as well as anything. Side windsows get a touch of spray polish when I'm doing the rest of the van but never anything on the screen.

At home Iโ€™ve cleaned some windows this morning with Stardrops White Vinegar Spray. The best window cleaner Iโ€™ve ever used! (y) (y) :giggle:

On the outside I just use a brush on the end of a hose and on the inside Windolene

T cut is also most excellent for removing scratches ...great on the plastic windows too ... mine are like new on the hymer

Hi
Does your Ducato not have the foot apertures below the headlamps? Mine on Peugeot Boxer allow me to gain access to the windscreen for cleaning. You still need to be quite agile but that is what they are for.

RainX is great... until you leave it too long and it starts wearing off. Then it rains and it's like you cleaned the screen with lard, it makes most smeary mess ever. You've basically got to keep topping it up for ever, or strip it off the residue with brake cleaner.

I've never used Rainex on the windscreen - in fact I was specifically told not to as it would cause smears etc. Personally a quick flash of the washers then a microfibre cloth has always worked for me. The side windows get polished when the van does.
