MH
don’t own one yet
Hi all, we have used my T5.1 panel van for a few trips to france, so now really want to get something purpose built, we don’t stay at campsites so would prefer a more off grid campervan (leaning toward Adria twin type) there will only be 2 of us and will only ever go to Europe (live in Channel Islands). Would like a fixed bed so has garage beneath, toilet/shower and definitely a belted seat behind cab seats. And as I said want options to remain off grid more. So what are my options? Would really like something with a modern interior rather than an old brown camper or clinical white, I know newer campers are starting to look more homely (would live the 2024 HYMER ML-T but would have to sell my house first 😉) thanks in advance 👍🏻

How long a MH do you think you would be comfortable with? Do you have any restrictions on your license regarding vehicle weight?

There are plenty of really solid options for your requirements.

Hi Mzracer, yes I have a 3.5T restriction, not bothered with length but know the restriction will narrow down my options, I was thinking a campervan rather than I Motorhome would give me more options in road widths and condition, so looking to go more expedition look, seen plenty of Ducatos with this look and believe they offer a bit more width than a sprinter/crafter. Thanks

OK I don't have any real knowledge of campervans, I think they call them PVC on here (panel van conversion) I am pretty sure the Ducato's have a wider wheel base than sprinters.

Sounds like any of the continental PVCs, if you want a fixed bed with garage and belted seats.

Most brands have Ducato in their range, swivel front seats and dinette with 2 belted seats, small kitchen part way across the sliding door with compact washroom opposite, and fixed transverse bed in the shorter vans, or sometimes lengthways in longer vans.

Try searching for Globecar to start, or Adrian Twin.

Do you want it to look like an off road vehicle or do you want it to do a specific job.

There is a trend towards PVC's having the 'look' of off road vehicles in reality not all are.

Decide how you want to use your vehicle if your trekking a cross Africa you need a serious off roader.

If your driving A to B with a little bit of gravel roads to park off grid you don't need the heavy duty stuff.

Get around some rallies/shows ans see what's out there and write your wish list

Then cross off until you find what you think you want and want you can get

If you like Hymer you may want to look at these, they do have a 'free' range but the finish is not quite the same
