We're off to France and Spain for 3.5 weeks in October / November and have for some time been reading various books and compling a long checklist on stuff to take.

This is one item which I've only just discovered I need for my LPG filler. The dish adaptor for refilling in France and various other countries. This was mentioned in a very comprehensive book called 'Motorhome France'.

You'll need a different adapter for filling LPG in Spain.

Well done for doing some research before you set off. Have a great trip.

Depends where in Spain.

Spain, like Switzerland, Denmark, Austria and others has at least two 'standard' filling adaptors

However across the entire western Europe only only four different types are used, (Bayonet (UK), ACME, Euro and Dish) which means as long as you can convert whatever you have into the other three, you should have it covered

I bought the dish adaptor for France then Kups kindly pointed out that I need another type for Spain so I bought one of those. I should have bought the set of four of course but I didn't realise there were so many!

Why cannot countries all adopt the same type!!!

Good question but it's been like that for ever!
I've always carried three. Some Spanish garages have a box of adapters at reception and the staff help you fill. I also carry a Spanish gas cylinder and adapter to link to my Gaslow system as gais much cheaper than electric on sites where they charge for electric.
