Friends of ours are looking at Benimar motorhomes, they are unsure of the quality and build. Can anybody shed any information and views on them please.
Many thanks in advance(y)

Like all motorhomes we purchase it is a gamble. Benimar owners have had good and bad experiences as with any brand. I was seriously thinking of changing vans before covid and did a lot of research. Benimar brands were very tempting and feedback was favourable.
A customer of mine purchased a Benimar in February so I was interested in its performance. He travelled to Europe as an official for Motocross so it was used a lot. As the weeks ticked by he was having a lot of issues and by the end of May he'd had enough and is now in the final stages of receiving a refund as he rejected the van.
We ALL take a gamble but many have no problems and many more have problems that they don't talk about.

They’ve got a lot going for them for value for money, solar panel, leg steadies and inet Truma box fitted as standard on ours. Our payload wasn’t great so we up plated ours. Benimar gets much less comebacks than the other make the main dealer sells....so I was told.

Thanks Willjoy.
I totally agree, somebody may be along shortly to tell us how fantastic they are.
Its just good to gather as many views from people who have owned them rather than a sales man telling you how great they are!!

I have had a 2015 Benimar Mileo 201 for just over a year and a half. The only problem we have had was with the Fiat base vehicle, not the Benimar fit-out (particulate sensor). I am very happy with the vehicle as a whole, the biggest negative is the appalling manual which is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. The Dethleffs I had before had a marvellous manual, which covered just about any possible issue that could arise, I guess spoiling me for any other make's documentation!

We have had ours (Benimar 294 ) for 5 years now bought from new. The only major problem we have had with it was a cracked shower tray that replaced under warranty. Smaller things have occurred like a leaking tap replaced very easily and cheaply . We also managed to knock the sink drain off at the bottom of the sink by overfilling the drawer underneath but once again an easy fix. At 5 year old we thought about changing the van for something newer but can quite honestly say we have not seen any thing better for the money , so I would tell your friend to go for it we love ours and normally spend months living in it and if we did sell it Benimar would be high on the list as a replacement .

We had a Mileo 202 as our first van, I was really pleased with it no major build issues and as they fit just about every avaliable option as standard great for finding out what you need and don't, but Tracy did not like the drop down bed, so we traded it in for a Dethleffs Globus which had terrible build quality and we got shot of it after a year.

We picked ours up in March just before lockdown, Mileo 286. Had a few trips away and love it especially the lounge and kitchen space. We uprated it for payload.

There is a previous thread on this subject which might be interesting

Here's what I sad at that time

We had a Mileo 201 for 3 years (2016 model). we loved it but echo some of the comments on here

The wardrobe door flew off when braking and damaged other panels as it careered down the van
The shower floor was really flimsy (flexing)and used to worry me every time I got in in (It didn't break though)
Marquis were shockingly bad but got there in the end
The Tambour door on the Loo/shower used to drive me me as did the sliding shower door in the shower cubicle

I would buy another though if I could reassure myself that the quality was better now

Hi, We are in NZ and have had a Benimar 202 on the Fiat for 3 months. It is great. A few minor items that you would expect on a moving home with power, gas, and sewer systems. Remembering Motor homes are not made in the numbers of cars, small commissioning issues should be expected.
Some changes we made: added a tow bar rated to 2000kg (easy to do as the Fiat chassis runs to the rear), extra LED driving lights in the lower blank spaces (easy to install kit from the UK), axle weighed and calculated the actual required tire pressure for the axle load and tyre rating is 51psi (down from 79.9 PSI) for a softer ride, carpet lined the storage locker to stop the noises while driving. We also reset the stop on the drop down bed to lower it further. Took out the spare and got a tyre slim kit with pump to remove weight and increase storage space.

Had a 282 for 2 years, about 100 nights. Well equipped but heavy, had to uprate to 2650 but still marginal when fully loaded. No major issues, more minor annoyances.
  1. Foam in lounge seating not particularly comfortable after 5 weeks away in it.
  2. Quite a thin uncomfortable mattress in drop down bed, unable to use decent mattress topper or wardrobe door wouldn’t open as bed wouldn’t go high enough.
  3. Removed fixed table as v heavy and too big.
  4. Grey water exit under van a real pain if sites didn’t have a drive over.

Sold now, awaiting Adria Twin Supreme. 😀
