What air pump would you recommend using for tyres?
We have a 12v one from our car. It does the job but struggles as the Moho tyres hold a lot of air at high pressures.
It's too much for my cordless, so I'm looking for recommendations for a 240v plug in pump that will handle 80 odd psi without flinching.
I do use the air pumps in local garages but they aren't great either for such high pressure requirements.
Since one of my tyres has a slow leak and we use the Moho every month or so, it always needs a top up (from about 40psi) when we want to use it.
Tyre has loads of life in it so I'm not looking to change that yet. I just want a pump.
Any recommendations welcome.
TIA

I’ve got a RAC700 does the pressure but slow and you have to turn it on before connecting to the tyre or it blows a fuse.

I’m not sure but I think that I read somewhere that petrol station air compressors can be fairly inaccurate? Okay maybe in an emergency.

I guess it depends on how regularly they are calibrated.

Mains or battery and 80 psi required in my tyres. ............

This is mine, very good quiet running👌😎
Blows motorhome tyres up for breakfast 😜

Mine is branded a different make and was £90 but looks exactly the same.

I use a cordless Makita (had the 18v batteries anyway for other tools) and it’s brilliant. I also have the Ring but haven’t used it since getting the cordless.

I keep the Makita in the van and it gives me peace of mind when we’re Way (eg if the spare needed sorting or pressures needed changing). Easily does 80psi

Another Ring 900 user here.

I use a workshop style bicycle pump.
It's a lot less effort than you might think. I top up all 4 tyres in 5 or 10 minutes every couple of months.

I initially looked at the electric ones, but as I couldn't quickly find one that went to high enough pressure I tried the bike pump and never thought about the electric ones again.
I'm pumping them up to 65 to 70psi. Perhaps it's harder with more pressure?

It's got the advantages of being small, light, cheap and reliable.

The only disadvantage has been that the lock-on cap is a bit tight on my wheels, so I bought a 50mm long valve extender.

Another vote for the Makita inflator.

It does all the bikes, cars and motorhome with ease. I had a ring copy and haven’t used it since. If you also have the batteries already, it makes even more sense.

Genuinely, I don’t know what I did without it, it’s always carried with me. 👍

Another vote for Makita. Lightweight and powerful

I used a station air pump for the first time in years the other day - £1!!! for 5 mins.

I have a great pump that came with the Motorhome when we bought it new. It’s one of those which has a dual function with the other being inflation with ‘gunk’ in the case of a puncture.

I recently checked my tyres with it and the results tallied precisely with those of our tyrepal sensors, which is reassuring for both the pump and the sensors 👍

I use a DeWalt cordless inflator.
It coped with 79 psi before I contacted Continental and reduced my pressures closer to 60. It tops up to 60 very quickly and cuts off automatically once the target pressure is reached. I check and top up the pressures every month on both the van and the car and only need to recharge the battery about one every 6 months

I use the Milwaukee M12 Sub Compact tyre inflator as I have a number of their tools and several batteries anyway. It’s rated to 120 psi so has no problem dealing with the moho tyres.

I use a 'Scheppach Air Case Compressor' that I bought from Amazon for about £120 at the time. It contains a 2 litre compressed air cylinder which recharges as necessary when air is used. Comes complete with an airgun which is useful for blowing dust/water out of sensitive areas. It is 230V and I have run it off an inverter when on the road, and EHU when on a site. Pumps up to 80psi and beyond with ease. When used with a suitable extension air hose I can easily reach all four tyres from one point.

I have and have had for a number of years now a Ryobi dual pump, does pressure and volume (for air mattresses etc), and have never had an issue with it, goes up to 120psi.

I use dealt cordless. Like all their kit, it 'does the business' and shares batteries with other tools. It also has low pressure output for kids' inflatables or paddleboard etc. I hadn't realised how much easier cordless would be for moving round the vehicle. Digital setting and auto cut-off, of course.
