May I ask for those with a fiat ducato based 3 ltr comformatic, what size vehicle battery they have? Mine is a 95AH LA and having an intermittent gearbox error that another forum suggests could be low AH battery as should be 110AH??? Thx in advance.

If your engine battery is now some years old realistically it won't have the capacity of a new battery so you haven't got anywhere near the original 95Ah. When my comfortmatic on a 2019 2.3l went belly up I also tried the replacement bigger capacity starter battery trick. Made no difference and I ended up with a very big bill. See the Comfortmatic failure club thread for the full details.

Has anyone ever changed the clutch activation fluids on your van? Has the clutch plate settings been recalibrated to allow for the wear that will have occurred over the years? These are more likely to be the first steps needed to resolve the first signs of intermittent problems and you need to intervene asap in the hope it won't be expensive.

Hi, I can check mine when I'm back home from holiday, but I'm always reading around on this topic since I bought mine about 3 months ago.

Can I ask you to pay a link to the post on the forum you mentioned?

Tbh I have read it on fiat ducato Facebook group, the Fiatmotorhome forum and some posts on here that suggest I may need a higher AH battery than 95. Also checked with Tanya batteries with my reg and it also suggests 110AH... Still gathering info and hope for more from MHFun where older 3 ltr comformatics (2009 ish) are in use...

I've no idea about the battery size for this engine/gearbox, but I thought the most important parameter for a starter battery was not the Ah capacity but the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA), which is the amps that it can provide for the starter motor when it is cranking the engine, at the coldest likely temperature.
