Can anybody tell me what these symbols mean. (I know the one on the left is for fan) but not the symbol’A’.

Yep as Peavy says above..
When 'A' auto is selected, the fan will increase and decrease speed depending on the heat being genenerated by the heater...

This looks like the same as our first van, you can also use that fan with no heat as a cooling fan.
