Spotted this hanging below the van - behind front near side wheel. Van is a 2022 Peugeot Boxer.

I had one like that on a car recently - chewed through by rodents I think. The brake pad wear warning light on the dash will be on if it is though.

Most cars only have them on one side, usually opposing sides front and rear.

The dash brake warning light will only be on if the cables core is shorted together. If not then it will not be on.

I thought it was the other way round...circuit is complete normally, but when the sensor touches the disks and wears it breaks the circuit. Makes more sense to me, but I could be wrong!

I have one of those hanging from van as well. It’s the brake pad wear indicator. Circuit made when pads are worn so no you will not see any warning lights on the dash. If the pads wear out you will here it for sure.

The way it works is that the disc wears through the plastic insulation and the disc itself shorts the 2 wires together completing the electrical circuit to put the light on.

Oh right, makes sense too (y) My wires must have been shorted together then - didnt look that closely to be honest. Replaced the sensor and the light went out.

Thanks for the responses. Van booked in to have a replacement fitted. 👍

Chewed, squirrel, fox, rat, one of those vermin to blame. We have local foxes that for kicks chew through any live extension leads left out. I now have to elevate our a lead to the van for the occasional plug in. Fortunately, Foxy's not bringing his mate's, Moley, or Neddy round with him to play or inter course nose what I'd have to be dealing with!!
Mike.
