Hi guys

Just found this under the rear forward facing bench seat?

If I switch on or off it doesn’t draw current, but it does light up if I switch it off??

When you say............

Is that in the down position, or the up position. We Brits tend to switch items off in the up position, whereas our European cousins tend to switch things on in the up position. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

When it’s in the 0 (opposed to 1) position it light up

My logic is, if it was some advantageous feature it wouldn’t be hidden under a seat, I’ll take a look later in the week see if it goes anywhere

I assume it's mains connected? Maybe it turns a socket on and off in the garage? For e-bike chargers?

Do you have the Alde heat exchanger? If so, I’d lay bets on it being for the circulating pump for transferring heat from the Alde system to the engine for warming it up prior to starting the engine.

So according the the image, it's in the I position, ie, off.

Looking at the thickness of the cables to and from the switch, I'd say they are capable of carrying a good few amps.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Agree same on our previous XLi Globetrotter.

Hard to believe that was fitted by the converter looks to crude, I'd be ashamed if I did wiring that bad.

It's fitted under the central seating so not seen next to the heat exchanger bit of a pain to switch on you would have to remove the seat cushions to access it but to be honest I never did use it.

Ours was mounted at floor level on the back of the passenger seat base (so readily accessible) but we too, in 14 years of ownership, never used it.

We did, however, regularly use the HX to warm the habitation area when driving to our destination which is where the HX really comes into its own.

$$ worth every penny in colder times to travel and use waste heat to warm the van and hot water with someone having arthritis and struggles in the cold.
Love our alde for that

The heat exchanger is the manual valve type, it’s in the same location though

Did you find out if it's mains or 12v?
Nah… going to turn it off and ignore it, I’ve got an inverter down there if I need power..

Still got to fix the Alde on gas, which I have narrowed down to pipe restriction or blockage on the copper

Looking at your last picture it looks like it was for a pump which has been removed hence that rather iffy spliced in red pipe, which looks to have a leak or a shadow on the picture

They’re all manual valve types.

I suspect that you’re right. It looks as though the pump has been removed; it’s no coincidence that the connector is in the same location as that aftermarket section of pipe.

No leak, bone dry down there, the picture was taken from the opposite side of the van so shadow
