As I’m currently in Mallorca and on my way back home in my van in the next week what’s happening at Dover? Are the frenchies striking? for what and for how long?
Trying to get home to Scotland for New Year’s Eve!?

The French euro staff are on strike. They wanted 3k for working over Christmas but offered 1k.

Does it look like it’s gonna last past Xmas?
I’d hoped to be crossing Calais Dover on the 27/28 th?
Or should I plan another ferry route home?

The strike by French workers related to the tunnel and Eurostar. Agreement has been reached and services are gradually returning to normal. The actions did not involve the ferries although they may have been affected by increased demand due to the tunnel issues.

At about 6pm this evening Dover was static.
Locals saying it was taking 2hrs to get from one end of town to the other.
The M20 is closed to stack freight.

Personally I'd avoid Dover.
Take any other crossing

Coming back from Spain to Scotland I'd take ferry to Hull and sleep in a cabin overnight.

Dover is busy because of a 24hr strike Thursday, by Eurotunnel staff, and the bad weather. Eurotunnel is clear and has no problems either way. We traveled on it yesterday. Actually weirdly quiet. Only issues is stacking lorries southbound on M20
You will be fine for your crossing. Things are sorting themselves out, and you are travelling from France to England, and the French no how to manage things, so there aren’t problems in Calais.

Dover is stuffed this morning. We're sitting in traffic on Jubilee Hill now, overlooking the port where the queueing lanes are full.

I would have your hogmanay in Benidorm . Lots of funsters there already and will be celebrating the New Year. ( you can poke your eyes out after)
